Louisiana pastor defies coronavirus order, draws over 1,000 people to services

A Louisiana pastor is apparently defying the governor's order against gatherings of more than 50 people by hosting over 1,000 churchgoers at a service Sunday and bringing together hundreds at another service Tuesday, according to the pastor and local media.

The pastor's motivation, IMO is money, not the well-being of his "flock".

One scary fact: In Florida, DeSantis wrote a variance in his order that still permits these type of religious services.

Thats not one man making a choice, thats a 1000 people making the same choice to go to the service.

I don't disagree. Either way, it's insanely idiotic.

Meanwhile Louisiana climbs up the hit-list, fifth now in total cases and third in new (last 24 hrs.) deaths behind New York and New Jersey.

How DARE anyone place their personal and constitutional rights above the Democrat Flu Panic Agenda.

It's OUTRAGEOUS!!!!

If you can't be counted on to get behind this effort you just can't be counted on. For anything.

The world is watching.

"The virus, we believe, is politically motivated," Tony Spell said. "We hold our religious rights dear and we are going to assemble no matter what someone says."

Do you see that? That right there is right-wing ignorant Trump-loving Fox propaganda watching ignoramus. I can't say it's unbelievable, I believe it very much. They're stupid, they're idiots, and even worse, they're a danger to their community, they're a danger to their entire state and they're a danger to this entire country. How the hell can any trumps supporters here say "this is right, this is good, this is their prerogative"? No, it is not any of those and the ignorant Governor of Louisiana should make it illegal for crowds of people to assemble and if they do, arrest them and keep them locked up, they're a danger to the entire community.

These people are plainly ignorant, that's why good leadership is so critical in this situation. Ignorant people will only do what they have to do if they're forced to do it, there's no other way around it. It happened in N. Georgia just a couple of months ago. A young married couple both fell ill shortly after attending a March 1 choir reunion. Since then, at least 15 members of the church have tested positive for the disease and others who are awaiting test results.

They made their choice. It should be respected.

I'm sorry, I don't respect a choice that puts others, the people who don't go to these services who these people will come into contact with, in danger.

I look upon their selfish choice with tremendous disrespect.

And many other scary, idiotic, dangerous exceptions like recreational activities, like beach gatherings such as the typical large crowds at the spring break that undoubtedly increased the number of infected:

Florida stay-at-home order: What you can and cannot do now - Orlando Sentinel

This guy, and all the other govs, etc., that are leading their flock into infection and death, need to be kicked-out of office.

It's both to the extent that people gripped by blind faith can be said to be making a choice.

In fairness, the LA gov did outlaw these gatherings, the pastor and his flock are defying the order.

There is no right, even under the guise of practicing your religion, to subject others to communicable diseases...

Who are they putting at risk? Everyone is getting this virus, its simply a matter of time, its contagious to truly stop, just like the cold virus.

This is an stark example where one of the tenants of right-wing ideology, the denial of science, can be deadly!

That's what it is, isn't it. Covid measures have been filed beside environmentalism, global warming and recycling plastic as a left-wing issue and hence the knee-jerk defiance.
That and the predictable right-wing philistinism about education and educated people.

TDS is indeed pretty bad we can agree...
