Speaking of New York, Detroit and Louisiana, Birx said, “They are predicting in those three hotspots, all of them hitting together in the next six to seven days."

“It’s going to be a very deadly period, unfortunately,” President Donald Trump said at a White House news conference.

Birx said places like Pennsylvania, Colorado and Washington, D.C., also are a concern because they are "starting to go on that upside" of the coronavirus mortality curve.

“This is the moment to not be going to the grocery store, not going to the pharmacy, but doing everything you can to keep your family and your friends safe,” she said. Coronavirus: Trump, Pence, Birx warn of jump in deaths in coming week
 
So this is the peak in New York?


I'm not sure why we can't move resources out of other states to New York? If the medical community was part of the military, the generals would redirect men and materials to New York.

My understanding is that this is merely the beginning of a dramatic upswing that will see hundreds of thousands of Americans die every day beginning in the next 7 to 700 days and continuing for years and years until the economy is well beyond recovery and the people are trained to obey their political masters without question.

I live in a hot spot. I don't go to the store unless it is absolutely necessary to get food. When I do, I wear a face mask and gloves, then do a decontamination procedure when I get to my car.

EDIT: I stopped going to big stores like Costco, where there are lots of people. I go to smaller stores.

I don't think the fresh green beans I bought Friday are making it to Easter. I have frozen green beans. Friends will forgive. I don't need to go to the store for two months. I probably will not go for at least two weeks.

If one is able and can, now is the time to stock up on supplies. How many people will heed Trump's, Pence's, Birx's warnings though?

Great. Just what we need. One more run on grocery stores.

Out here the stores have had a decent supply of meat (since the run right after St Patrick's day) and we're seeing eggs come back a little bit. Other than than that you can get condiments and potato chips. If there's another run like 2 weeks ago it'll be the end of April before people that don't have stuff can get stuff. I guess it will suck to be one of those people who can't get out or can't afford to stock up.

The US is likely to peak at over 2000 deaths per day. And that's just in the first pass. COVID-19 is not going to disappear any time soon.

I wonder, will you still be sarcastic about the response if COVID-19 kills someone you care about?

I don't want anyone I know to suffer any malady and I freely admit that there is cause for concern with CV-19 but it's a concern, not whatever we're doing now. The UK just banned sunbathing because of this thing. We've seen runs on groceries and supplies like we've NEVER seen before. We've got 24/7 disaster programming coming at us and THAT is causing as much trouble as the bug is. Panic DOES NOT help this situation and overreaction IS NOT a good idea. It's like when there's a fire in a nightclub and everyone runs for the same exit while NOBODY runs for the fire extinguisher.

Worse than your sarcastic , useless posts, are these misinformation posts. There is no evidence that “panic” is occurring in any significant way. And certainly nothing even approaching the very real dangers of cv19. There is no evidence we are overreacting. All medical experts really are saying we are not doing enough. The opposite of what you claim. Since nothing you wrote is even approaching reasonable, I have to assume you’ve been told these crazy things, and now believe them.

This ID the fire extinguisher. Social lockdown IS the only tool to control the fire. But you, Trump, and the right wing mob, keep trying to make it worse.

I do know people who have gotten it. Trump most certainly bears his fair share of the blame, as he bungled the response. So, I have no problems conveying that proportion of his blame via sarcasm.

You tell me, because actually you’re a perfect candidate. You’re a cultist and you live in a state that trump absolutely will not send medical supplies to if they’re needed. Eventually somebody you care about is going to die. What will that do to you? How far does cultism go? As I said, I will be watching with interest.

Actually, it’s already three 9/11’s now. But 9/11 was easy to grasp because an outsider did it. It’s not so easy to wrap your hands around when it’s the President’s own incompetence and malevolence that does it.
 
It's been interesting to see the same people criticizing "hoarding" now rationalizing it as "stockpiling." I regret not doing it now.

I can't wait much longer and would rather go to the grocery now and stock up than when the virus peaks in 2-3 weeks. My place and freezer just doesn't have the storage capacity.
