Are you going to wear a mask?

Probably, but I'm not going to try to obtain a medical mask. Just something that covers my face. People such as medical workers and grocery store workers have a much bigger need for them than I do.

I thought about wearing my gas mask and rubber ducky hazmat suit. I would be covid19 invincible. Then I rejected that silly notion. Even at a balmy 65 degrees F the suit would cause me to overheat very quickly and drown in my sweat. I am not going to die that way if I can help it. So I decided a simple bandana and chaps would do. I thought about assless chaps but that would scar people for life, cause cardiac arrest in the women and men folk alike.

It is also important to cover (protect) your eyes since your tear ducts drain into your nose. The nonsense that masks (and other PPE) only help prevent the infected from spreading the disease and do not help protect the non-infected is still being asserted. It's time to seriously confront those "experts" who make such misleading statements.

I'm wearing it as much for myself as others. Germ spreading is a two-way street. Kind of nutty to think it's not.

I already am. But I’m using actual N95 masks and not some jerry rigged cloth

A tightly fitted cotton cloth barrier is as effective as many fabric types.

I have not worn one so far. But I don't want to seem like someone who doesn't care if they kill people. I am not afraid of catching it, as long as I don't get too close to anyone. But I don't want to give it to anyone.

I do a lot of walking outside, but I don't get near anyone. When I go into a store, however, out of consideration for the person at the cash register, I think maybe I will. Even if they have a mask on, they might like the customers to have them also.

In the old movies the bandits had a bandana over their face. So I hope they don't think I am planning to rob the store.

That (bolded above) is precisely my point.

I don’t think doctors will want my old respiratory mask that I use for working with dangerous vapors. Yes, I wear that out. Very uncomfortable at first but you get used to it. The trick is removing it correctly so you don’t touch your face.
I think vapor masks are rated at N100 a little better than N95.

Hmm... if you assume that you are infected then why are you leaving your home at all?

 Because he wants or needs to?

Why are you? You could be infected and not know it. Are you wearing the fabulous N95 dust mask? Do you WANT to kill people?

When I go to the grocery store, Walmart or Hardware store yes, along with gloves, otherwise no.

Besides the doctor, that's the only places I go.

The efficacy is almost certainly less since the cartridges are old. I’m confident however that no moisture particles are getting through.

Started wearing a mask yesterday when I got my INR checked at the clinic. Will probably do so again today when I need to pick up groceries.

Pretty much the same other than the gas station for my tractor, mowers and 4 wheelers, nature doesn't stop for our problems.

Somebody said the eyes were as susceptible as the mouth but I wear glasses that may help.

That (bolded above) is a huge part of the problem - the lack of testing means that many who are contagious have no idea that they are and thus it makes little sense to make wearing masks (in public places) remain optional.

Once I get infected, I'll wear a mask to help prevent infecting others.

Wearing a mask increases your odds of getting infected.

If you are infected with covid-19 and are not asymptomatic to it, wearing a mask does some to protect other people, but it could make your condition much worse or even kill you for wearing it. Why? Because this causes you to re-inhale the virus your lungs are breathing out - or if sick - desperately trying to cough out of your lungs.

Suppressing coughing or breathing back in what you coughed out is you warring against your own immune system.

Nah, it is like always thinking a gun is loaded.

Wearing a mask will prevent a lot of your respiratory droplets from showering everyone if you are in a room with other people. This isn't rocket science.

The social distancing isn't really that effective considering a sneeze can propel droplets 24 ft. If everyone had a mask on that would make the most difference.

People are such snowflakes about having a mask on. It isn't like they are asking people to carry a potato up their rectum.

Ditto.

There’s no perfect method though because somewhere down the line there’s the danger of improper use. For example, you could go full hardcore and have the respirator mask with the fully enclosed faceplate. Then you get out of the store, and while removing the mask you touch your face and bam...coronavirus.

I pump gas at a low volume, customer station full of petrol fumes. I doubt the sick can live in that environment for long.

My Wife participated in the mask progrom from a local fabric store, and made 19 masks with what they gave her, I dropped them off yesterday.
She found an improved pattern that uses a polypropylene layer, with and additional pocket for added filter material.
She is making those for the kids and grand kids.
The PP layer is rated at .3 um, which is similar to the n95, and a few layers of Kleenex in the pocket, would cut back further.
I was thinking if a cloth moistened with Colloidal silver, in the pocket might be an improvement, Silver kills almost everything.

I think I'm just going to lick some public surfaces and get it over with. :2razz:

Dr Fauci doesn't wear a mask. Instead, he washes his hands like 50x a day.

You're better off carrying around a bottle of Purell hand sanitizer.
