But the statewide regulations have set off confusion and dismay among some local leaders who say they don’t go far enough. The governor placed no restrictions on worship services, a flash point as Tampa-area law enforcement brought charges against a megachurch pastor earlier this week.

“Our hospitals better get ready, that’s all I gotta say,” said Hillsborough County Commission Chairman Lesley Miller on a teleconference meeting Thursday, after the county’s lawyers concluded that they would no longer be able to mandate that worshipers stay six feet apart.

Hillsborough County is where the Reverend Rodney Howard-Browne stands accused of flouting social distancing rules when hundreds flocked to the River at Tampa Bay Church this past weekend.

I would gather than most conservative religious people vote conservative as well. This idiocy seems purely political. But it will get rid of a lot of holy rollers & overtax area hospitals at the same time.

Look, **** healthcare workers, is their motto. The soldiers on the front-line, and those governors are like "meh, ****'em, and the people that die as a result of this".

I had two Trump supporters tell me point blank...one considers other Americans "cockroaches", and they other said that if they don't know you, they don't give a **** about your living or dying.
That's excluding the ones that are running pure troll misinformation, and the ones who tried to cry like snowflakes early on about how the elderly (and the young and working age people who die), should just sacrifice their lives for us to just "go back to normal", but you know..still wash hands.

A failure of an ideology right now. I'd like to think when it's all said and done there will be a reckoning, but likely not since their base literally doesn't care, as their motto.

I thought the governor of Florida was going to have people whose last names began with A to J do Stay At Home and those whose last names began with L to Z would be free to associate.

Hmm, I guess he changed his mind to having this group Stay At Home but not this group.

Let me guess what party he belongs to? Hmm, could it be the same dumbass party as the Georgia Gov who just yesterday learned that people infected with COVID-19 could pass it on regardless if they have symptoms?

Don't forget. Once this is over don't forget.
Lines have been drawn.

The left has always been militantly hostile to religion. They've been somewhat oblique about it (but not very) in America, they're just coming out in the open now.

You have no religious right to kill people.

Funny how the left is very strigent about the seperation of church and state until now. While I do agree that people should curtail attending church services for awhile I dont believe its the gov place to make it a crime.

What the hell does that have to do with anything? Do you consider measures trying to limit the spread of this virus to be 'leftist'? Do you think churches are somehow immune to viral infection?
Damn. Anyone who thinks this is a partisan political issue is a dangerous sociopath. Anyone who can't get behind the need to all pull together now, who advocates resistance to necessary public precautions, ought to be somehow excluded from society.

It's kind of nice to see the mask come off. American leftists don't generally admit to being Jacobins, so there's a refreshing honesty when you guys admit that yes, you do want to persecute religious people after all.

The thinking that rejects science, why is this a surprise?

Yes people lives are at stake, but???????????? the stupidity continues.

And yes it is telling of his fail to lead, lead to failure
And more deaths

The left has been extremely hostile to religion from day one. Now (as they have at other times and places), they're actively outlawing religion. People on this very forum have said that people who practice religion should be killed for doing so. It's really not complicated.

Agreed. No one should be allowed to hold the wrong opinions. It's too dangerous.
