Navy expected to relieve captain who raised alarm about COVID-19 outbreak on aircraft carrier

It is HIGHLY unlikely that the Navy is relieving him merely because he requested assistance for his crew...

yes, strictly coincidental that he just make a very public statement.

;)

The guy had his crews safety as his priority, I doubt he regrets it in the least.

The Royal Navy wouldn't be ignored by our government. I don't believe for a second that this Captain went public before alerting his superiors who then would have altered the Pentagon and the Government. The fact he went public should tell you a lot about the current state of America's leadership.

You are not the person to make opinions and blanket statements about the American military.

The UK is suffering one of it's worse re-enlistment droughts in history, so I imagine there must be a lot of "Suck" going on..

I could say that it Say's a lot about your military as well. But I do understand how things go, and you do not.

Oh yeh i'm sure Russian and Chinese intelligence wouldn't have been able to work out why a US aircraft carrier was stationary in Guam and receiving aid....

SSHHHH - loose lips sink ships

I'm not falling for trolling today, but thanks.

You should have come to the upper decks more often, engine room fumes are noxious....

Navy expected to relieve captain who raised alarm about COVID-19 outbreak on aircraft carrier.

The Navy is expected to announce it has relieved the captain who sounded the alarm about an outbreak of COVID-19 aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt, according to two U.S. officials. Capt. Brett Crozier, who commands the Roosevelt, an aircraft carrier with a crew of nearly 5,000, will be relieved of his command, but keep his rank and remain in the Navy. Crozier raised the alarm earlier this week that sailors on the ship need to be quarantined to stop the spread of the virus. His plea for assistance quickly made headlines.

What do you guys think?

I think it's pretty obvious that the Senate ****ed up by not removing this leper.

Alert the press, I actually agree with you here... He obviously prioritized the lives of his men over the advancement of his career. Noble and imo, the only correct decision.

At least they allowed him to stay in the Navy and keep his rank.

The end results were well considered and known by him

The right decision

A so-called warrior who priorities safety over the mission is useless.

The bigger issue though is that this officer failed at his job, and remember too that many of us have long said that Obama promoted the wrong people.

You balance fighting the ship and saftey as much as possible.

This clown of a Captain had a bunch of his sailors cell phoning their wives here in Virginia Beach My son in law knows a lot of the "Big Stick" aviation crew.

Thus adding weight to the argument that Obama promoted the wrong people....

We have seen so much evidence of that in recent years.

Bad for the health that stuff.

Knew a guy once, sorry but that is for another time

Now Farts dangnabbit- they have been mislabeled by many in society

As I explained to my Grandchildren

Farts are nothing but burps who lost their way

LOL...right

The person I responded to made a BS accusation regarding America's leadership which is directly related to this thread.

Every country has a few crap Commanding Officers in their military ranks, so why should he call out America?

Would you put your qualities, your character, your morals, your sense of duty against his?

I guess your most excellent education did not cover the need for capable personnel for the success of the mission.

This guy said that we are not at war so he did not care about the mission, he only cared about the safety of his crew....please pay attention.

And again, I doubt the man has any regrets.

It is unfortunate, but we should not know of this, because if we know of this, our nation's adversaries now know of this and the readiness of one of our most powerful warships. This should not have been leaked to the press.

It's interesting how conservatives have all but abandoned the idea of the public's right to know, a critical aspect of a functioning democracy.

Its my respect for the American military and its members that makes me believe he had not other choice.

I think they're crucifying a man because he's inconvenient.

Anyone can voice an opinion. Doesn't matter if you don't like it. You get no extra votes.
