WASHINGTON — Informal discussions have begun on Capitol Hill about the possibility of creating a panel to scrutinize the Trump administration's response to the coronavirus pandemic that would be modeled on the commission that investigated the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, according to four people familiar with the discussions.

They described the discussions as "very preliminary" and involving mostly congressional Democrats.

One option could be a plan to review the administration's response in the annual National Defense Authorization Act, two of the people said.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff says he is working on a draft of a bill to form a commission.

That'll help. :roll: Let's have another panel scrutinize the House response to this virus. The first recorded case of the virus in the US was on January 15th, coincidently the very same day the House presented articles of impeachment in the Senate.

Absolutely. And let it be headed by Senator Tom Cotton, the only Congressperson who kept his eye on the ball and kept crying out like Cassandra as the virus was spreading in China, while everyone else in Congress was sitting around enjoying the smell of their own farts, figuratively and literally.

It makes more sense to wait until it is over to produce a "lessons learned" tome and to concentrate on dealing with the crisis at hand now.
 
No good result can come from this "commission" on coronavirus response.

Sounds like election year attention grabbing to me.

I don't have a problem with Congress looking at the events, the actions and the results. If it prompts them to pass laws to make it easier and more effective to deal with this kind of situation in the future...that's a good thing.

But you KNOW that's not what the Dems want to do. They want political campaign ammunition for the guy the DNC trots out as their candidate this summer.

At the end of the day, they'll either win the election or Trump will...but you KNOW that Congress won't pass any laws that keep people alive next time.

This is nothing more than what has become usual action by the Congressional Dems...using their Congressional power for blatant and corrupt political purposes.

With these people it never ends. You would hope at a time of such a horrific health crisis all would pull together but evidently not. What a soulless bunch. It was already bad enough that they had the gall to throw all that crap into the emergency bill to fund their special interests holding up the dang thing for a week while people are hurting. They don't care about the people. All they care about is power.

I'm mocking Pelosi by using her favorite word for what Trump does while people die; diddle.

The Dems are just Gawd-awful. At least those that go along with their stupid investigations that lead to no man's land.
