Now that's not a certainty. New York's explosion was already in progress very early, and new York is particularly densely populated.

San Diego has been under a stay home order for almost two weeks. Compliance has been pretty good. Last time I looked we had 500+ confirmed. And we're a big city. But a sprawled one. A bunch of smaller communities that have grown together, designed around the automobile.

So a decent social distancing effort and our general low density could save us from some of the worst.

When its all over we will at least have proof one way or the other. Whether areas that complied with social distancing programs performed better than those who just did Mardi Gras anyway.
