Trump announces 30-day extension of coronavirus guidelines

why is Trump even still talking about this thing? it's nothing.

cue Rush Limbaugh.

Goodbye shopping malls and brick and mortar stores. Goodbye bars and movie theaters. Goodbye sporting events. Goodbye travel industry. Goodbye middle class.

Perhaps. But we can't stay on lock-down forever.

People need to earn a living. Food has to be harvested and processed. Businesses have to get back to business. Trade has to start again.

It all might have to come down to "herd immunity."

At some point, risk or no risk, we need to get back to as normal as we can achieve under the circumstances.
I expect better from you (not that you care). After that, your avatar should be Captain Obvious.

tweet your favorite President and tell him to stop this thing.

Hardly. Schools were scheduled to be closed through April 3. That just changed that too. But since you are so bright, well-informed and the first to know, please give me that specific date when these guidelines will expire and that date when you expect to see commerce begin again. Thanks.

Many states have made their own rules for schools. Our have been closed thru April almost from the start...with initial statements that they may be extended based on circumstances.

Food production is continuing. My son who is a QA for a major food production plant was issued a badge identifying him employed in an Essential Business to allow him to be on the road at this time.

The plant is working overtime at this point.

Yes, we need to get back to normal but for now lets trust the epidemiologists.

So he has accepted that he is going to die, right?

Why should he have to work? Members of Congress don't have too work. Millions are being paid not to work. What right does the government have to sacrifice his life if what they claim about covid-19 is true? Does the stimulus provide death benefits to his relatives? Will it pay for his funeral?

I bet they haven't even issued him a full bio-hazard suit, have they? They could, but won't.

All our employees have been issued travel exemption letters too, but our business has no dealings with the public other than delivery companies - and each other of course. So I suppose we're all dead - and everyone at our homes too.

Will anyone on the forum even give me a thank you for sacrificing my life for them? Of course not.

When a person has no argument, they resort to ad hominin's and other fallacious responses.

Guess you didn't read my blog.

Tagline time. :coffeepap:

Flip-flopping like a landed flounder.

Everyone I know laughed at Trump when he said we'd be over this by Easter. They aren't experts or anything, but they aren't conservatives, either.

No one who wasn't a far-right Fox "News" watcher believed for a minute that the Easter prediction was anything less than full-tilt insane.

So what does that tell us about Trump and his fans?

I guess what you and Trump have in common is a belief that you know more than epidemiologists who have spent their whole lives studying this kind of thing.

Those of us who know we don't know more than epidemiologists and so were listening to what they were saying, knew immediately that Easter was a ridiculous, laughable target.

If you can't understand why so many of us have contempt for Trump, this is a good opportunity to gain some insight.

He's a fool. He says foolish things in the middle of a national crisis. He's emotional, not rational.

:applaud:applaud

In the Puget Sound area of Washington State. He knew of a girl who got pulled over by police and questioned why she was out on the road.

Huh, she should report it. In his press conference on Friday (Thurs?) our governor was clarifying what's allowed and said that people 'could go for a drive.' His exact words when discussing things like bike riding, getting outside, etc.

Why would I read your blog? And I dont see any refutation of my post either. Correct...I had no argument, just an observation...which still stands.

And no response needed. It's a public forum.

So which family members are you willing to sacrifice?

Shopping malls and retail in general have been in bad shape for some time now. The actual middle class doesn't work in those industries, it's all minimum wage

BTW, this was your boy's decision.

He claims there will be 'good news' by June 1st. I wish he didn't say that, even if I hope it's true.

I hope it's true too. I don't know that there will be, but I do hope so.

Don't pay attention to that. He copied that little blog from Mycroft. Not even original.

In determining what level of herd immunity is necessary to stop the spread of infection we need to know the R0 (or reproductive ratio) this is the number of people that are likely to be infected by a single case.

Estimates of the R0 for COVID-19 vary somewhat but are in the order 2.0 to 3.0. Assuming that R0=3 then after about 66% of the population becomes infected then the virus will die out in the population.

do you have some kind of mathematical formula for this?

His Easter promise was a cold calculated effort to solidify support from the religious right. In a self-serving way it was rational. I sincerely doubt there was anything emotional about it - he is not a religious man.

What middle class?

Extended 30 days?

Once again, we learn the MSM of the super rich gave everyone FALSE advise. Until a week ago, they were insisting that no one stock up for more than "two weeks" - assuring everyone any quarantine would definitely last more than 2 weeks.

Is there ANYTHING the MSM has not incessantly told us all are facts that was not either false or outright lies? Many Democrats - for which anything said on the MSM are words from omniscient gods to them, were ridiculing anyone stocking up as rightwing survivalist hording kooks.

Anyone who makes any decisions based upon the propaganda of the super rich via their MSM they literally and totally own or believes anything any progressive Democrat talking head on the MSM says is a fool. If it isn't a lie, the MSM and Democratic Party won't say it. Lying is the #1 tactic of both the super rich's MSM propaganda and their subordinate department of the Democratic Party.
