Priorities USA Expands “Exponential Threat” Ad Buy to Arizona Following Trump Campaign’s Failed Chal

Re: Priorities USA Expands “Exponential Threat Ad Buy to Arizona Following Trump Campaign’s F

I agree the news outlets should not be threatened. However after seeing the ad, it just aired in AZ, my point stands. The Ad is full of Trump soundbites. What is does not have is the context in which the statement was made. Most political attack ads are that way. One reason I don't pay much attention to political ads. Check and verify what is presented.

imo, ads like this are not needed. Most Americans have already made up their minds of what they think of Trump.

No, you don’t have a point.

The content of a political ad is not the editorial content of a news outlet.

And watching the President of the United States threaten the news outlets in this manner is unconcionable in a free society

Re: Priorities USA Expands “Exponential Threat” Ad Buy to Arizona Following Trump Campaign’s F

True.

One should not blindly follow any politician.

They're guilty until proven innocent because they're cogs in the wheel, easily replaced and serving at our pleasure. We're not sending them to prison, we're telling them "get a real job". That does not require a court case or criminal conviction. It requires us having enough of their bs.

This is America. They're servants not rulers.

So it was wrong for YouTube and other social media to remove "fake news" posts.?

Re: Priorities USA Expands “Exponential Threat” Ad Buy to Arizona Following Trump Campaign’s F

The ad is a collection of Trump statements. imo, what is lacking is the context around the statement. This could give a misleading presentation of Trumps statements. Much like when the news aired edited 911 sound tracks to show a police officer in a bad light. When the full track was shown it changed the perception of the event. One needs to take political ads with a grain of salt. Most present a biased view.

Your argument has no evidence to support it, its rejected. You feel it may be misleading, but you offer no evidence to back that claim.

In contrast, we have Trump's own words as evidence of his many, countless, misdeeds, including these absurd and deplorable comments. And many of us saw the full videos or heard him say it live, or read his tweets, etc.
we have evidence to support it.

You offer, your feelings on the matter. Do you understand that your own view, is the view that has to be taken as un-evidenced opinion, and not the evidenced-based ad? (since it uses Trump's own words)?

An ad, by any reasonable interpretation, cannot be 5 minutes long, it has to be short, so they use the specific, worst quotes that capture what Trump does. Claiming its biased *because it has to be short*, makes no sense.

BY all means, if you want to find the originals, and show us how these aren't' really bad, be my guest. That would be "debate". You claiming it could be wrong, is indistinguishable from you just saying "I don't know".

Of course people *should* verify accusations more deeply, but mike2810, if Fox news has taught you anything, it's that most people don't. And even when shown wrong, Fox types refuse to listen, so what point would you be making to them?

The political left never misses a chance for exploitation during what's called a crisis.

Crisis? I thought you guys told us it was all a democratic hoax..

Re: Priorities USA Expands “Exponential Threat” Ad Buy to Arizona Following Trump Campaign’s F

I am not a Trump supporter. I also am not a fan of todays main stream news media. imo, the "press" has become more of an editorial platform rather than reporting the news. Some facts given with the majority of the story being opinion. What happened to the "press" just reporting the facts.

8 years of Obama criticism of the right and now 4 years Trump have made it a necessity for the media to do more than just make the news. Especially after 4 years of Trump and his attack on the media has made them feel the need to defend themselves.

Pure news is a rarity IMHO. Because even if it is pure news, the Trump attack machine will claim it is fake news or the lying media. As long as a story is critical of Trump, no matter how accurate will still be attacked as lies and the fake news media.

Priorities USA Expands "Exponential Threat" Ad Buy to Arizona Following Trump Campaign's Failed Challenge - Priorities USA

On Wednesday, the Trump campaign sent letters to TV stations threatening their licenses if they continued to air the Priorities USA Action ad “Exponential Threat,” which holds Donald Trump accountable using his own words downplaying the threat of the coronavirus while the infection rates skyrocketed across the country. That intimidation effort failed and the ad is continuing to air across Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Today, Priorities USA Action is expanding the buy into Arizona over the next few weeks with an initial $600,000 investment. This investment is in addition to the $6 million that Priorities USA Action announced it’s spending in other battleground states to hold Trump accountable for the disastrous impact of his failed response to the pandemic.
===================================================
Quoting Guy Cecil, Chairman of Priorities USA: “Donald Trump spent weeks downplaying the threat of the coronavirus and his inaction left the country unprepared for this crisis. Even today, his lies are putting the health of millions of Americans at risk,” “The fact that Trump is going to such great lengths to keep the American people from hearing his own words adds to the urgency of communicating them far and wide.'

Good.

Re: Priorities USA Expands “Exponential Threat” Ad Buy to Arizona Following Trump Campaign’s F

Very true.
One reason I don't pay much attention to ads. Like I said in another post, imo, most Americans have made up their minds about Trump. No add is going to change that.

I placed that ad in the same category of "fake news" on youtube and other social media. Context is everything. The ad is misleading.

Having selected snippets of speeches does not make it "fake", it may not be totally accurate but from what I heard about the Trump campaign is that one of their biggest issues was that the Priorities said that Trump called Corona a Hoax. The video shows they said "it is their hoax" not "it is hoax".

what part of imo, (in my opinion). didn't you understand.

I am not "most people". I don't watch foxnews.

I should have stated things more clearly. You are correct that "snippets of speeches does not make it fake. I can mean it misrepresents what was being said. The ad does show statements made by Trump.

Badly used or deceitfully used comments are most often a total misrepresentation of what a person actually said. But I am not sure this goes to that level. I have heard Trump campaign or campaign groups for Trump that actually did deceitfully use statements of his opponents completely out of context so that it made it sound like the opponent stated the opposite of what was actually stated (when looking at the full statement).

Re: Priorities USA Expands “Exponential Threat” Ad Buy to Arizona Following Trump Campaign’s F

Trump's always misquote his opponents words.

FYI, just to make that painfully obvious, I do not approve of Trump deceitfully misusing quotes to make it sound like his opponent said something (while instead he said something completely different), BUT BUT BUT I also do not approve of democrats deceitfully using Trump quotes to do the same.
