CNN, MSNBC Bosses Ignore Staff Pleas to Cut Trump Coronavirus Pressers

Yes, we want a central leadership that's professional and concerned with the public good than a central leadership that isn't. If that leadership is concerned exclusively with sowing chaos and division, it's best that that leadership is ignored as much as is possible.

The thing about central leadership like that is you get what you've got and tough nuts if you don't like it.

The worst thing that can happen is we get the government we think we have. Republicans have always believed that governing is bad, and they have been very clear that they intend to prove it at every available opportunity.

I mean, they haven't been coy about it. It's their platform.

Yeah, see, there's this weird concept in America that THE PEOPLE are supposed to do most of the governing and that the federal government is supposed to, primarily, make sure we can continue to do so.

You are division.

Yes, I know what "populism" is.

Trump’s daily pandemic briefings have devolved into an “open-mic night” full of “misinformation,” cable staffers said.

The Trump segments of the White House pressers are worse than useless. Nothing more than political propaganda fart fests.

About two weeks ago Trump appointed Pence to be in charge of the Covid-19 White House medical team. What a joke that has become. Trump cannot share the limelight with anyone. So, for the past two weeks it is Trump who conducts the press conferences, and Pence stands behind him. The worst part about all this is Trump is doing most of the talking on the pandemic, not the medical experts, and he is making a complete fool of himself. He has no idea what he is talking about.

Trump has this nasty habit of interrupting reporters from CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, and others. Using the over-talking method, he won't let them finish their questions. This is a sign of weakness and vulnerability. He doesn't want the television audience to hear their questions. However, he rarely interrupts John Roberts, the White House reporter from Fox News. Roberts asks the softball questions Trump most likely provided.

What should be upsetting to all Americans is our ****stain of a President cannot be trusted to go on national TV and not lie his ****ing ass off spreading bull**** that makes his ****ty performance throughout this **** appear competent. Instead the morons and lemmings lap that **** up like gravy, and it's dangerous that the rest of us who aren't ****ing idiots have to effectively assume everything the President says is a bunch of **** and disregard it all until someone not a ****ing liar verifies his bull****.

Have you listened to your candidate lately talk about what he would do? He'd like to include money for "The New Green Deal" in the next wave of stimulus packages. Your 80 year old crack head speaker held up relief for millions of people so she could include things like 24 million for the Kennedy Center in the bill. Neither of these creeps should be involved in decision making. We are already seeing what a disaster the bureaucracy of government is. Yet, you geniuses want more government. Most of you want a socialist society. Well! we now know that that wouldn't be a good idea.

There are a lot of mentally unstable people out there who need to be shutdown. They are the true enemy of this country.

Trump is a very sick man. He suffers from paranoia and extreme narcissism. He feels that all of the nation's issues concern him and him alone, never mind that, in this case, hundreds of Americans are dying and thousands are becoming sick.

The Hill reports, "President Trump on Wednesday accused the media of pushing to keep restrictions in place to limit the spread of the coronavirus — measures supported by most public health experts — in an effort to hamper the economy and harm his reelection chances."

Trump did this via a tweet, and a reporter called him on it in the press conference concerning the coronavirus pandemic. He accused the reporter of wanting him to lose the election and writing fake news. He was an extremely embarrassing moment.

This was after he talked about how he personally persuaded members of NATO to pony up for more dues. Trump has been discredited for this lie several times, but he really believes it. The increased payments are a consequence of an agreement sign during the Obama administration.

Later Trump talked about his "beautiful" new 164 miles of wall along our southern border. He mentioned invaders have to go around it, thus adding to their travel time and inconvenience.

All this during a Covid-19 press conference. Unbelievable!

Trump dominates these press conferences, and, as indicated, contributes little to the conversation unless you count patting himself on the back and creating fantasies about the time frame of Americans returning to work.

Trump doesn't know that he is simply proving to a national television audience how truly incompetent he is. No doubt those standing next to him are embarrassed, and infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci has had to correct the President several times. Trump doesn't even know his hand is being slapped for providing false hope to the American people and lying.

Trump put on another numbing performance yesterday dominating a press conference dealing with a viral pandemic while his health experts stood by in silence. To give credence to the performance, the doctors were allowed a few minutes to talk about the health crisis.

However, 90% of the conference dealt with Trump campaigning for reelection. There was a great deal of hyperbole, and we learned that tremendous is one of Trump's favorite words, and that everything is "very good." I must give credit where credit is due. Trump is a great politician. He can talk and talk and never say anything, and he rarely commits to anything. He likes having it both ways. He will say one thing in one sentence, and take it all back in the next sentence. He wants to scale back social distancing in some parts of the economy. Then again, he doesn't really, and he will listen to the experts. In his mind this is "tremendous" brilliance.

You're not getting it. There is a need for leadership at the moment.

"Only people who can't think for themselves and are outwardly motivated need leadership to guide them" -Mongidig

One really has to ask what it is that is truly upsetting the idiot leftists that are trying to get the networks to pull the plug...the content, or the fact that Trumps approval ratings for handling this have increased dramatically. Literally, the same people ****ting themselves over his response are the same people that **** themselves over every trivial thing that has happened in the last 4 years, including lying and fabricating things to **** themselves over.

Hillary lost. Now President Trump whupped her ass.

That answer will hold until 2024. Only name will change.

Trump’s daily pandemic briefings have devolved into an “open-mic night” full of “misinformation,” cable staffers said.

It is safe to say that a huge percentage of those listening to Trump's self-serving, campaign-like press conferences on Covid-19 are people who voted for him. Because of an inexhaustible supply of evidence of Trump's incompetence, his supporters are seeking justification for their vote.

It amazes me how this man can draw such huge audiences. As shown by various threads, his supporters can't even defend him. When dealing with a post critical of Trump, his fans largely ignore the issues and focus on the writer, and/or, they change the subject. Obama is a popular choice.

Why do they support a man they can't defend? I haven't a clue.

The point is that airing trump's pressers is partaking in the spread of disinformation, confusion, chaos and division. While news is traditionally concerned with reporting events instead of acting according to some notion of the public welfare, I don't agree that this tradition is necessarily a suicide pact. A nationwide health disaster like an out-of-control pandemic seems to me to be a good example of an occasion to pull that plug.

You hit it right squarely on the head.

Very little if anything Trump says matches up with reality.

Trump tells us bazillions of face masks have been sent out. Cuomo tells us he received 1,000.

And it's not that Cuomo is lying because doctors and nurses in NY say the same thing. They have to wash their face masks at home for God's sake.

And a good part of the problem is a leadership and experience shortage. The good folks who refused to swear allegiance to Dear Leader quit or were fired long ago.

We now have dozens of 'Acting' and 'Temporary' people in charge of departments that shouldn't even be there.

The problem is not about politics, but about him endangering the public. His slightly better than 50% approval in this matter is a testament to how dangerous he is. Many people are believing him, and that's the problem that needs to be addressed.

Speaking of the flu, here's a February 26th editorial from the NEJM by Dr. Fauchi - https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMe2002387

Also, people have been slamming Trump for mentioning Chloroquine but it turns out that it WAS being used in trials and was showing some success.

I know that everyone likes to suggest that Trump is talking out his ass and only spouting whatever Hannity tells him to say but it sure looks like he may have been paying attention to EVERYONE instead of just the fear mongers.

Sounds good if you keep the focus very narrow and the camera in just the right spot.

Chloraguine became unobtainium as a result of his comments that sounded like the "miracle" they had been hoping for. People who actually use it, lupus and RA patients, can't get it. And stupid people hear him say it's a cure, see the name on one of their koi pond chemicals, ingest it, and one of them dies.

The death rate from those in the know has always been around "severe seasonal flu".

What trump doesn't understand and the narrative managers are trying to hide is how different this virus is from the seasonal flu. And why that makes it dangerous in unique ways.

It is highly contagious for a long period.

Most people are highly contagious but feel fine or just need a dayquil.

We have no herd immunity. This virus is brand new. So it is going to make about a quarter of those from 20 up exposed to it to become extremely ill. And around 1% are going to die. Unless we can get to a vaccine quick enough. Anybody who hasn't had it will still be able to easily catch it, even when we get it under "control".

It's not going to be over until a vaccine is found and tested and everybody gets it or until we've all had it. And the latter means 25% of the population gets sick enough for hospitalization and 1% or so will die. So it behooves us that as few as possible are exposed until we have a vaccine.

Here's an idea, if you rather hear the interpretation instead of the actual briefing, change the channel. It is not that complicated.
But that doesn't remove the problem of those that are naive or un-knowledgeable listening to and acting upon the things he says. That's the problem.

Some are listening to Nancy and Chuck. I wait until Fauci or Burx speak, mute the TV in between.
