Small grocery store throws away $35K worth of food after woman allegedly coughs on it

Small grocery store throws away $35K worth of food after woman allegedly coughs on it | TheHill

A grocery store in northeastern Pennsylvania says it was forced to throw away over $35,000 worth of food out of concern over the coronavirus pandemic after a woman deliberately coughed over it.

The co-owner of Gerrity's Supermarket, Joe Fasula, said the woman purposefully coughed on food in several sections of the store, including the produce area, bakery section and meat case, according to The Washington Post.

And charge her with malicious destruction of property.

Come to think of it, the feds recently warned that they'll be treating deliberate coughings-upon of things as something serious. I am simply blanking on the exact name for the charge, but it has to do with use of bio weapons/terrorism or something like that. Whatever it is, it's because they think deliberately trying to infect someone with it fits the statutory definition.

They have been treating things like this as terrorism. I posted a couple of articles about similar incidents a few days ago.

Re: Small grocery store throws away $35K worth of food after woman allegedly coughs on it

There isn't enough information to know her motives - or even if she had anything.

People cough. I have allergies and can just start sneezing. I carry paper towels to cover my mouth and nose with and rapidly turn from and move away from people. Usually I sense it coming and if in public will literally rapidly exit to outside. If I just can't, I assure people "I have allergies." I've always done this.

So the question is what was her motive - and if they can prove it. If she's just some low IQ mental case who just coughs when she coughs like - sadly - lots of people do - a criminal or even civil case is a real challenge.

If a person standing in line in a grocery store coughs or sneezed, are they a criminal for contaminating the candy and gossip sheets rack? Is everything in the row thrown away?

If she did it deliberately with the motive of spreading disease? She's an outright domestic terrorist and should be treated as such, whether or not she tests positive for any transmittable disease.
Coronavirus still poses a low risk to the general public in the US.""If you are a healthy young person, there is no reason if you want to go on a cruise ship, go on a cruise ship." "If you have tested negative for covid-19, there is no reason to wear a mask." Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of NIAID
