Just returned from LaGuardia airport

I accept your concession

Its okay that you don't have anything. Not like anyone took your posts seriously after the third time you failed to back up your statements in this exchange alone

That's adorable. Have any lines that haven't already been easily shot down? Im guessing not since you have repeatedly posted the same thing but been unable to present any challenges to responses

You claim not to be a part of the discussion then claim your posts actually addressed anything from mine. Make up your mind. Maybe go back and read without your blinders on and realize how many times you failed to back up your claims.

Anyway, have a nice day. Make the most of the lockdown maybe and read a few books on debate and logic

Why are trumpers always so angry? Lol

What do you want people to do? Panic?

Listen to instructions and deal with a little adversity for a while, like adults.

Like all those heroes from our past did.

I signed up to volunteer to work a food bank or deliver food to those who can't get out.

And I'm an asthmatic with type 2 diabetes.

What have you done to help?

What we are witness to in the United States of America is a federal government which is, for whatever reason, lacking in the ability to see the consequences of its actions and ameliorate the degree of negative impact on those most severely afflicted. That there are experts in this remarkable nation of ours that can do so is a given. That they have not been summoned to the front is also clearly evident. It is thus that we are given pronouncements such as;

"[W]hen you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that's a pretty good job we've done." President of the United States of America Donald Trump.

Stay well.

Good post.

Not a Trump fan and not angry, more full of pity. I honestly hope you do take the time to improve yourself. Do stay safe. I wont continue to respond to your trolling

It's not really about being told what to do (though the overreach of government and suspension of rights is no small issue) It has to do with the cure hurting more than the disease. This absurd level of panic may save a few lives, but its going to cost millions of people their ability to sustain themselves and their families. Every single time more data comes out, the mortality rate is lower. Yet people are being jailed in NJ just for getting married or because the neighbor says they think they saw more than 50 ppl at your house.

Can you please link to where the CDC says that government should institute house arrest, suspend the bill of rights, ensure millions lose their jobs, etc? I only see them recommending self quarantine and social distancing

NOOOOO!! Every time the mortality rate comes out it is DOUBLE what it was a week ago in the US. Where are you getting your false numbers?

Let me put this another way, and no -- I'm not intentionally trying to scare you or anyone else. This pandemic is like nothing that you, nor your father and maybe even your grandfather has seen in their life. Covid-19 is going to be written about and studied for many decades. There has never been anything like coronavirus in our history. It's not like SARS and MERS or Ebola -- nothing.

Think of it this way, if you've ever heard of a 'super bug' that could possibly eradicate 1/3rd of the world's population, this is that super bug. So what good is trying to contain it? Once there is no more health care available to the average American, people die in numbers that this country hasn't seen since 1918 with the Spanish flu and more people unemployed since 1929 during the great depression and not only because of Covid-19. The NY hospitals are desperate, think about that. New York hospitals are some of the largest, richest and most cutting-edge technological hospitals in this country, they are on the brink of collapse.

What happens when one by one hospitals collapse around the country? There's talk in NY of converting the Jacob Javits Center into a hospital with 1,000 beds available to care for sick coronavirus patients. Sounds great but who's going to take care of them? Where is NY going to get the doctors, nurses, aides, respiratory therapists, dietitians, food service, housekeeping radiology, etc? As it is now, NY is imploring retired doctors and nurses to return to help. So far they have had 1,000 respondents willing to step in and volunteer their medical help. NY is asking that med students and nursing students be given an expedited path to be able to practice medicine. NY wants to accept foreign nurses or allow nurse practitioners to preside as a physician instead of a nurse, just give them all the legal licenses to be able to diagnose, treat and write prescriptions for anyone.

This is not a drill, this is real life. This is going to get very bad and situations will arise that may even become dangerous.

Exactly. This is not some evil.plot by the government to deny us rights.

He wants people to be concerned enough to take reasonable precautions, and also to stop listening to Trump supporters and Trump-supporting pundits who have EDS (Expert Derangement Syndrome).

Did you see what you just did? You did a Fox News thing, you took my words "shelter in place" and changed the meaning to "house arrest". That's a totally different thing and you did that intentionally and it's bad.

You risked exposing an extra person when you went to the airport. I can't believe you risked thousands of lives like that!

It's not working for you on this thread. Someone shot a hole in your troll.

Take about 30 steps back from the asinine restrictions and crashing of economy and ruining of millions of jobs/lives that America is doing and you will find reasonable precautions; look around now and see hysterical panic

This isn't true.

There are not enough respirators, there's not enough protective gloves and masks, there are not enough tests, there are not enough ventilators.

Trump is incompetent. The people he has hired are incompetent. None of them know what they are doing.

Or each other for that matter - gets hard to take them seriously after the "data" is compared to their dire predictions or when the recommendations are so different between sources

Which epidemiologist are you referring to? Which organization are you referring to? Which specific analysis are you referring to? Which country or population are you referring to? Which set of enacted policies are you referring to?

Hes young and he thinks he knows better so he buys into this whole conspiracy about this being a plot to deny you your rights. It's quite silly

Social distancing and minimizing interaction is a far cry from crashing the world economy and putting millions out of work and risking the families ability to house, clothe and feed their children

There are not enough hospitals. There are not enough healthcare practitioners. There are not enough ventilators. There are not enough pieces of protective equipment.

Are you suggesting that the suggestion Cuomo is making right now that the federal government nationalize the medical supply industry is over the top?

The panic is going to do FAR more damage than the bug ever could.

I completely agree. Also, you bring yet another point to mind. We are keeping count of the number of people who die from COVID-19, but people surely have died and perhaps many will die because of COVID-19 rather than from it. People ill from other causes are not getting the treatment they need or getting it in a timely fashion. Necessary surgery schedules are being delayed and it will only become worse when more people are hospitalized with COVID-19.

In addition, critical drugs are being depleted. Worse, Trump spouts off more fake news about a drug that is rumored to have been a cure and suddenly the drug is in short supply. People who have been taking it for other reasons can no longer get it. Lives could be in the balance and those lives lost would be as a direct result of COVID-19 though never attributed to it.

I just got home from picking up my son at LaGuardia airport which is in Queens, NY. The borough of Queens has over 1,042 known cases of Coronavirus. Many people exiting the baggage claim were wearing masks, some had gloves also. And some had no protection. Even the men wearing the 'port authority' jackets had no protection.

My son was the most covered up of anyone including his hair, face, hands, long sleeves. His flight stopped in Ft. Laurderdale and he said he didn't see a single person wearing a mask or trying to stay at least 6 feet away from anyone. One of the guards asked him 'what's all that?' referring to his mask and gloves. Those people and many others are the reason epidemics become pandemic.

There's people coming into Ft. Lauderdale from all over the world and spring break people returning back to wherever they came from. Nobody cares, nobody is alarmed. These are the culprits that bring their virus to others, and those others die. This is why I am 100% certain that this virus is going to absolutely devastate this country, not only the economy, but it's going to take many more lives before it's under control.

People are so ****ing stupid.

I hope you were well protected. I would hate going to an airport right now

You wont scare me with this. Lets see, where to start:

Spanish flu came before anti-virals, understanding of general health items like diabetes and a million other things; different world

1/3 of the world!? Mortality rate keeps dropping, highest current rate (which is an incredible outlier ) is on par with 3.4%, so even with no treatment or vaccine and an absolutely batcrap crazy idea of 100% infection, you top out at 1/10 of your number and that is the most dire possible case.

They have multiple vaccines and possible treatments well in progress and have made unprecendented easing of restrictions on the process.

New York tops out at 1 out of the best 20 hospitals in this country and has many overcrowding issues and can work out additional help and beds, but I don't deny the strain, especially when everyone is told if they are near someone with a cough, they will die.

Im not saying this isn't a serious thing but its so buried in panic inspired by greedy media and politics that the overreactions are becoming a bigger problem.

You and I wont come to terms on this, I don't think, tho I do read links and am always open to being proven wrong if you want to continue. Otherwise I am content to wish you safety and a good day

EDIT I somehow missed opening line. The INFECTION rate is doubling, mortality rate is dropping. This comes from more testing aavailable. People had it, but we didn't know. Now we know, but they aren't dying faster because we found out
