I developed this theory back in 2016. I had an idea that Hillary was paying Trump to run, in order to win the election of that year. After all, Trump wasn't ever going to win against her, was he? But then, interestingly enough, he did. This got me thinking.
Trump is a caricature. He's loudmouthed, misogynistic, racist, sexist, homophobic. It may look like he's trying to hide it, but he every so often makes a subtly racist or sexist comment... and in my opinion, he does it on purpose. Why? Because, he's a plant from the Democrats.
He was a Democrat supporter. And then, suddenly, he became a Republican. He's used to putting on a show... he's a public personality... the perfect candidate.
The Democrats wanted someone so racist, so sexist, who was such an unbelievable contrast with the previous President (a supposedly kind, caring, intelligent and compassionate man), that America would realise: this must never happen again. We must never vote Republican again. This is what the true Conservative looks like. In the short-term, things may seem bad, but in the long-term, the election of the Fake President is a good thing.
Face it: Trump is an actor. A plant. Look at that Mussolinical face he does. He's putting it all on. He even said:
“If I were to run, I’d run as a Republican. They’re the dumbest group of voters in the country. They believe anything on Fox News. I could lie and they’d still eat it up. I bet my numbers would be terrific.” -- Donald Trump in 1998 People magazine interview.
Trump did not disparage GOP in 1998 People magazine interview

Face it. Fake it. Face facts, or fake facts? That's the question.

I support this theory.

Trump was a New York democrat forever and then suddenly he switched to the republican party for no reason.

The President is not a plant. He's a P.R. stunt gone wrong.

If he's a plant, then he's gone rogue.

Perhaps he's a weed.

Brilliant!

Trump is the democrat's fault. The ultimate projection.

You mean Trump isn't Russia's Manchurian Candidate???

I could certainly see it coming out one day it was all started or enabled by Hillary's planning.

The thing your TDS misses though is just how many people genuinely like Trump and not all this uni-party Republican BS that predated it. A bombastic loudmouth troll, he's next level, but my God is your world view broken when you think Trump is an egregious example of being a misogynistic, racist, sexist, homophobe. A man, loved by his family, who in his entire life has empowered thousands of woman, minorities and who protects and embraces homosexuals is not your caricature. Get real. Your only killing your own credibility and the meaningfulness of those ugly words.

Trump is just the right playing with the left's rule book. I doubt any other republican would have beat Hilary in 2016 and no other had a chance on Bidens in 2020.
Polite, well-spoken and take it to the chin types can't play in this information war.

So you keep believing your insane delusions of trump being some kind of reincarnated Hitler. He wins because he entertaining, he's Americana personified, and by God he not afraid to fight dirty when the other side certainly ain't holding any punches.

Killing my own credibility? Impossible.

How do you explain things like Trump's "grab 'em by the *****" comment, or his recent use of "when the looting starts, the shooting starts" and denial of systemic racism in the United States of America?

Interesting theory, actually.

How did ol'Hilldog get the GOP to select him as their candidate?

She could pay him to run, and he could BS his way through the campaign, but how did he slide past the GOP party chiefs at the beginning?

They are the ultimate firewall of who represents their party, by controlling who runs for office.

Na, Trump is America...at least, he is a large segment of it: fat, white, loud, dumb and arrogant enough to think he is lean and wise. That describes Right white America to a T.

Yeah maybe. It’s hard to know what’s a joke and what’s real anymore. Anytime he says some thing where I start thinking “this is so ridiculously stupid surely it can’t be real”, I see Fox News and Trump supporters getting excited That finally someone is saying it like it is. I mean SNL could not make this stuff up if they tried.

I resemble some of this comment, though I’m working on some of the sore areas. Still hoping the progress I see takes hold in perpetuity.

Are you happy because you’re listening to music, or are you listening to music because you’re happy. Half empty or half full. If some aspect of the ‘other’ side makes a positive move, then what?

Positive moves have been in short supply for time immemorial.

I think you are overestimating Trump.

Remember, Trump had a celeb reality TV show. Trump loved to get his name in the tabloids, he craved publicity, and when you crave publicity, you crave being seen with celebs.

Now then, think about it, most celebs are democrats, or liberals.

Trump is not a man with any real convictions, he's an opportunist. So, when he was a 'dem', it wasn't because HE was a dem, it was because most celebs were dems.

Now then, when he decided to run for prez, he understood that most dems would not want a billionaire, but repubs would, they are not suspicious of super rich people as dems are, so THAT is why he changed his stripes.

He's not a man of conviction, he's an empty suit, he'll wear whatever suit will suit his purpose, at that moment.

As for your premise, as a dem, I find it insulting, but, that's okay.

Even if I were Hillary, that idea wouldn't fly because I would know that republicans could very well elected such a creature and there is no way in hell I would put our country through the ringer like Trump would do.

Like I'm just now looking at a news report which states that he just said the results of the Emancipation Proclamation were "questionable".

Yet two years after making that quote you posted Trump ran for President as a Reform Party candidate, not a Republican. Trump remained a registered Democrat, and a big Hillary supporter, until 2012. After Romney lost to Obama then Trump registered as a Republican for the very first time in his life. Trump has never been a conservative. Trump is a leftist Democrat pretending to be a Republican.

Back in 2015, I stated on here that it didn't matter whether Clinton or trump won, that we were getting a Liberal either way. That may be the most wrong that I've ever been.
