Most workers (outside of first responders and medical staff) who are classified as essential are really just considered expendable.

Conspiracy theory. That's why it's in the conspiracy theory section.

Low skilled workers are easily replaced. That makes them expendable by definition. They may also be essential, but that's beside the point.

Personally I think your observation is right on the mark. Essential nail folks? Essential massagers? Essential pro wrestling? PLEASE. Theses folks are nothing more than canon fodder for trump hoping to bolster our destroyed economy.

Low skilled workers are who keep america running on a daily basis. If it weren't for the folks who pick our veggies and work on ranches and in meat packing houses we would most likely starve to death. Not to mention truck drivers, warehouse folks, fast food places and on and on. These are the same folks who also get the crappiest end of the stick.

Electricians, plumbers, repairmen, HVAC techs, maintenance people, janitors etc.. That who you're talking about?

We're talking about the non-medical people in low paying jobs who are working during the shutdown because they are considered essential to keep the country running.

Like who?

Meat packing workers. Retail clerks in grocery, pharmacy, and other retail that remained open. bus drivers etc. A lot of these people weren't even provided protective gear.

Here in Texas they are provided protection.

Still don't believe they are considered "expendable"

Oh you mean the people keeping your grocery store shelves stocked? You know what those people are? they're business critical.

Why do you consider them expendable?

I mean, you are presumably talking about your personal opinion because you didn't even hint that you were referring to anyone else.

Soldiers are expendable so that the mission might be accomplished. We were taught that principle in the US Army in the 60's. Fact of life. Life can be cruel.

But are their lives expendable? Sure, they can be replaced in the sense of the job, but i'm talking more about our lives.

At least in today's army, you signed up for that. So while they're expendable, they knew that going in.

I don't consider people expendable, and yes i am one of those non-medical "essential" people

If low skill, low wage people get sick and die, is that acceptable?

Of course not. Some deaths are inevitable regardless of what we do but who are you accusing of declaring anyone expendable?

I signed up for it too, by way of ROTC.

Humans are expendable in many walks of life. At least the Army tells you.
