Nikki Haley Timing

I was thinking about the timing of Haley’s resurfacing with her new book. I can see the Trump defense shifting to “see I was being conspired against from the inside of the Administration!”

Haley states on the morning shows that she told Trump about the actions of Tillerson and Kelly at the time. What are the odds Trump kept off Twitter all this time?

No idea what Haley's game is here. I know I don't trust her.

With Trump's paranoia if he had been given a heads up about Tillerson or Kelly being against him, he would have publicly exploded and they would have been gone.


And, again, as much as I would like one of Tillerson or Kelly to turn out to be "Anonymous," so far Haley's claims have not made me think they were doing anything other than walking that fine line they signed on for when they they told themselves they could be in orange traitor's cabinet and still be loyal Americans.

Edit: Kelly crossed that line into the dark side in Trump's service more than once, but still I think he tried to stay relatively close to it and Haley hasn't provided any credible reason to doubt anyone except herself.

Her game is simple. Hope Trump gets his ass handed to him in 2020, and then slide in to 2024 as the front runner for the next Republican nomination. She can claim the status of being someone who supported Trump as best she could while still being a more mature and experienced leader. As a woman she'll have a good shot at winning back the suburban women Trump is losing in droves. Particularly if she's going up against someone like Bernie or Biden.

Before she joined Trump's team, I had thought better of her. But obviously I thought too well of her. Interesting if that is her motivation. I wonder how much is conscious.

Either of those being viable in 2024 is unlikely, imo.


Aside: I don’t think Biden gets the nomination, this time.

I love Nikki Haley!

I will support her for POTUS should she decide to run in 2024.


She's honest when saying, if you don't like the way the president conducts his business, quit.
Nobody should be undermining the POTUS's authority. It is good to see that she understands why the people give one person, the president, his executive powers.

That’s the gist of it.

She can appear to be a loyal Trump team member while not being on the team.

No one should underestimate her political instincts. She positioned herself perfectly.

She can stand with, and simultaneously apart from, Donald Trump and his band of loser, hangers on and idiots.

And she is the only person who joined the Trump Administration and survived with her reputation in tact.

She still has some moderate cred for taking the stars and bars off the state Capitol in South Carolina.

When you look at the GOP leadership, you have McCarthy, McSally, and the various crackpots that make up the Freedom Caucus.

Not exactly a deep gene pool of potential 2024 candidates.

If Trump knew she were serious, and he took it seriously, it is plausible that he kept that tiny factoid off of Twitter.

I liked Haley before she went to work for Trump as UN Ambassador. In that role she became obnoxious and a tool of Israel. I no longer like her, but it's possible she's telling the truth here.
