Just curious as to the thoughts of others on this mystery.
What I'm thinking is that no doubt it was Vladimir Putin on the other end of the phone, but Trump and Putin have had many conversations that were private before, Helsinki comes to mind because that was even shielded from our own national intelligence.
Now who does Trump fear the most right now, who is his enemy? I'll repeat a proverb I quoted days ago and perhaps it will give some insight into my reasons for why this conversation reached 'urgent' status with the DNI whistle-blower.
'The enemy of my enemy is my friend'
Trump and Putin work very well together, but wait.....Putin isn't our friend, but he is Trump's friend because he's powerful and ruthless and basically has a pass to do whatever he wants to do. Putin really has no friends at all, he has people that he uses because they fear him. Putin has many years of experience as a former KGB agent. If Putin and Trump are even 'pretend' friends, then who is their common enemy? Putin's enemies are any dissident that opposes him. He either imprisons them as he did with Sergei Magnitsky then torture and kill him, or he just outright has them snuffed out. But as far as we know, Trump is different in that sense since he hasn't murdered anyone, unless we're counting Jeffrey Epstein. (who dat?)
'The enemy of my enemy is my friend', remember that one, it worked during WW2 when Churchill, Stalin and FDR joined forces to fight Adolf Hitler.
The way I see it is that Putin's 'enemy' are the sanctions that the U.S. put on Russia for invading Crimea. Those sanctions, as the ones imposed upon Iran for made up reasons, are hurting both countries deeply, more than we understand. Russia is an ally to Iran. I hope everyone realizes that. If we made trouble with Iran, we'd also have to expect trouble coming from Russia, China and Turkey.
If Putin asked Trump "what could I do for you that would get these sanctions off Russia?" I'm sure that Trump could come up with a host of things that Putin could help him out with. Perhaps Trump would like Putin to 'take care of' some of his enemies, the ones that aren't leaving him alone and giving him headaches? Putin could take care of them easily through threats on the lives of the family of this enemy, or it could be a treat on the life of that individual. Russia is experienced in reaching across continents to retaliate against Putin's enemies.
Who is the biggest threat to Trump politically?
