The official medical story about cardiovascular disease (CVD) is that it's caused by high levels of cholesterol in the blood. This causes arteries to become blocked, resulting in heart attacks or stroke.

But wait a second. We know that the major causes of CVD are cigarette smoking and diabetes. So how could cholesterol be the number one cause?

Mainstream medicine tries to prevent or control CVD by prescribing cholesterol-lowering drugs, such as statins. Drug company research tells us statins rarely cause side effects, and they are very effective at preventing death from heart attack or stroke.

See any contradictions?

It is known that about one percent of the population has extremely high cholesterol for genetic reasons. Yet if your cholesterol is high your doctor will say it's genetic. Without testing. Just assuming you have something only one percent of the population has.

For those people, statin drugs might be necessary.

For everyone else, they are not necessary and they are VERY LIKELY to damage your health. For example, you will probably get muscle pain and weakness. Which your doctor will tell you is a normal result of age!

The cholesterol story is mostly BS. Just think about it for a second.

Is it a conspiracy? Well, in the sense that the drug companies are making a killing on statin drugs which are prescribed to many millions of healthy people. But they might believe some of their lies.

We also know that having a doctor tell (medically advise?) a patient that they should lose weigh, exercise regularly, improve their diet and quit smoking would (or at least should) not result in earning a six-figure income or having the taxpayers fund such common sense advice for more than $2. However, placing that patient on a prescribed medication with mandatory follow-up visits for monitoring the results of that "treatment plan" has proven to be very effective for maintaining six-figure incomes.

I am a person of genetic high cholesterol as exploring the history of the males on my family lineage they all died of heart failure - then their heart issues came unusually young on the exact time schedule as for me in concerning precision. In the most recent generation they all either died or had their first heart surgery at the same younger-than-typical age I did and from what little is known of the same nature.

Cigarettes compound the health issue because nicotine constricts blood vessels and other vascular harms.

The potential side effects of the prescription drugs is a horrific list to read for sure. But if your personal medical history and that of your relatives is for heart issues and specifically clogged veins - not taking them is high risk, particularly if you are not willing to go on a strict non- cholesterol (which really sucks when at a restaurant 90% of what is on the menu is off-limits. I love steak, hamburgers, butter, eggs, milk and all the other restricted foods).

Reading up on the side effects, I did stop taking my heart scripts. The rapid result was another heart attack due to clogged heart vessels resulting in some permanent heart damage and still another unrepairable important blood vessel feeding my heart muscle. My heart is now fed oxygen and nutrients by only one major vessel.

Whether a person should take such drugs is their decision. However, it may be the only real option - and it may be that once you do then you dare not stop.

My son in law has high cholesterol. My daughter finally decided to take the vegan/organic diet rout and it seems to be working pretty well. His cholesterol is down. He's lost weight. Most of his allergies have receded. He's also reversed his pre-diabetic
condition.

I said, there are people whose CVD is caused by genetically high cholesterol. No controversy about that, no conspiracy about that.

The controversy and the conspiracy is extrapolating from that small minority of people and recommending cholesterol-lowering drugs for a very large percentage of the population.

Since high cholesterol is NOT the cause of CVD most of the time, the drugs cause harm with no benefit for most of the people taking them.

That is good to hear. He could also try increasing exercise, since most Americans don't get nearly enough.

Right. The doctors' excuse is that patients won't take their good advice. Of course not, when patients are led to think taking the drug will have the same effect as improving their lifestyle.

He coaches a high school climbing team and climes competitively himself. He also runs in Spartan events.
