If Alien Contact Is Received: what then?

Social interaction should be consensual.

In a large democracy, will everyone agree to all laws and taxes and follow them voluntarily, such that law enforcement will never be necessary?

And until that happens, there can be no claims of social advancement?

What do you think our government should do if they receive otherworldly contact from an intelligent species not of this Earth? Should other nations be put in the know? Public kept in the dark? Just wondering.

We should climb right up on them and woo them with our sorcery and get them on SSI because they're going to need it after what we do to them.

Broadcast this message to them and everyone:

All of our history and study indicates technological advancement is accompanied by social advancement. We anticipate and extend benevolence.

And as such, they likely will not contact us for a very long time...as we have a ****load of issues to resolve on our own.

Maybe they'll have their own Prime Directive.

Curiously, the US Constitution doesn't actually mention "human" or "homo sapien." It just says "people."

So, first, 27 different federal courts would make 27 different rulings on whether or not the aliens "people" and whether they may, may not or must be granted full rights and benefits, with this all ultimately decided by multiple Supreme Court decisions on that, issues of discrimination, the Disabilities Act, gender issues... it'd be in litigation for decades.

Any Alien race that contacted us this way would be going against the protocol established by the races already visiting here.

It is possible a race might develop light travel and be out exploring the Galaxy and come across us not knowing the protocol established.

By such a race we could be invaded if this was divine prerogative for dealing with our race.

One thing, if the available evidence here on Earth is worth anything, is for sure - they'll be better people than us.

The aliens that abduct, the ones that have bases in mountains and on Maui and the moon and mars all have established protocol of contact, just like we will when we encounter emerging cultures; to interfere means to become entangled, means humans will begin to depend on you and demand technology and you will be drawn into birth on this primitive planet.

There are no aliens on the Moon, Mars and Maui. Depend on me? What on Earth are you rabbiting on about?

Anally probe them?

That's what they do to us.

They sneak up on your proctologist and walk in on them.

(if you don't look out)

Do I have to show them to you? Can't we just believe that they're there?

At least we can believe the Illuminati are there and why wouldn't they know all about the local galaxy?

Do you think an Archangel or Christ or the Elohim could not tell you, but getting them to tell you, they would say go find out yourself.

No proof. No reason to believe any of that

Only in the preamble material does it say "people". In the body of law it is the individual that is protected by the law. Not counting slaves. ;)

I bet their spaceships are powered by magic mini-nukes.

When they find us...and they will. They will come like the explorers did to the Americas. And eventually, they will concur and rule our entire world.

Fine, as long as they bring firewater with them.

I wonder with whom they will concur? ;)

One of the things I like about scifi is that it provides a platform for wonder. Would we have gone to the Moon without Jules Verne?
You have to want something to work that hard to get it. And how can you want something you haven't thought of?

Anyway, I love all the guesses. From the benevolent wisdom of the aliens in Contact, to the parasitic horror of the Alien movies, and all points in between.

To me, Occams Razor suggests that we're not worth the trip, unless somebody out there has a warp drive and just hasn't gotten around to the slums.

Explain first how they will get here.

They're already here.

Our Illuminati protect us but like anything else this protection is dependent on us.

We are the Conquistadors, we have the Cross and Christ and it is Aliens who need to watch out for us.
