Alternate History: WWI with US vs. CSA

Harry Turtledove wrote a series of books about World War I, but the South had won the US civil war. Pretty neat, especially the "Confederate Air Force". Woodrow Wilson was president of the C.S.A., a part of the "quadruple entente" of Russia/France/UK/CSA; Theodore Roosevelt was president of a rump USA, part of the Central Alliance (USA/Germany/Austria). So the archduke gets assassinated in Sarajevo on June 28, 1914 and the US invades Canada and the Confederacy.

    Anyone familiar with his books?

I read and enjoyed Guns of the South, about time travellers handing AK47s to the Confederacy.

I started but didn't finish his WorldWar series, with aliens attacking in the middle of WWII with the rough equivalent of 1980s U.S. technology.

I found it interesting the way the alien's plan made some very wrong assumptions about humans because their own environment, biology, and culture were so different.

If you like counterfactual history, you might like the comic series Uber, which has the Germans developing superhuman weaponry just before they were defeated in '45, with the Allies scrambling to find their own super soldiers, which must be manufactured and also have limitations, not least of which is no one truly understand how it works.

It's done in the style of a military documentary like you'd see on the The History Channel. Very gory, not for the kids. You've been warned.

Interesting. There was another involving the Germans called Fatherland. Germany defeated Russia, the Normandy invasion failed, the US does however defeat Japan and drops atomic bombs. Therefore, the cold war was with National Socialist Germany, rather than the USSR. In 1961, the newly elected President Joseph P. Kennedy, sr. travels to Berlin to make a detente with Germany. All goes well until someone digs up proof of the extermination of the Jews.

I wish Turtledove would have written one about Germany after a hypothetically successful Operation Valkyrie. The bomb kills Hitler, Himmler, Goebbels is arrested and shot, ditto for Goering. The new cabinet takes over post-Nazi Germany in July 1944, and de Nazifies the government. Call if After Valkyrie or something. Would have been a neat one to write. But I understand he did write a series that I think was about the war coming a bit early, after the Munich conference in 1938 if I'm not mistaken; he called it The War that Came Early, or something like that.

The one with WWII and the aliens didn't interest me very much.
