The American public paid 30 billion to put Neil Armstrong on the moon. But the whole thing was filmed somewhere like Area 51 by Stanley Kubrick. Should NASA pay back the money?

Now NASA is faking man-made Global Warming data. Should they pay back the money they are using to do this?

Welcome, enjoy your visit.....

Best opening Conspiracy Theory thread by a new member since... the last time this happened, probably a few days ago.

Welcome to DP!

And you really believe that...how old are you?

I think they need some more money to probe deep into Uranus.

Oh boy.

I know this one. It is based on the fact that they could not have traveled to the moon because they would be exposed to 'harmful radiation" in the radiation belt.

True, there is one. Yep you get zapped with about .01% of what you'd get at the dentist.

That one floats because 'they' don't want you to know that it's not global warming, or the oceans rising, it's much worse. The continents are sinking, caused by the Russians and the US over mining idiodite, a secret substance that powers the mind reading equipment. We have MAYBE 50 years

Forty percent of the Russian population believes that the USA did NOT land on the Moon in 1969.
One in five Americans either don't believe it or have doubts.

This is generational level weaponized stupidity, and it cannot be fixed.

What is funny is the amount of evidence that has to be ignored, to say we faked the lunar landings.
The rover tracks viable for earthly telescopes.
The retro reflectors placed at the landing sights, and used for lunar ranging.
Not to mention people who are still around who walked on the moon, I have talked to one.

Did you really have to go there?

And isn't it aliens that do the bodily oriface probing thing?

No, but I did anyway.

We would be the aliens on Uranus so it would only be appropriate to probe very, very deep into Uranus.

Nah, they spent the money on all those huge rockets.

Gallup poll found that a scant 6 percent of Americans doubted the Apollo 11 moon landing happened

I’m not sure what is worse weaponized stupidity or weaponized ignorance

According to a July 1999 Gallup poll, 6% of Americans bought into that particular hysteria. In 2013, Pew Research pegged the number at 7%, well within the margin of error. If anything has changed, it’s likely just that the tinfoil hat brigade has grown louder and better able to meet up in their own festering online self-delusion support groups.

I am sure, education can usually fix ignorance, stupidity is usually beyond repair.

I said, "or has doubts", which can mean anything from "entertained conspiracy theories", or did not understand how or why we even engaged in the space race or "wondered if we really did go into space" at all.

If the number of hardcore hoaxers was pegged at 7 percent in 2013, great...however this is 2018 and it would be interesting to see if that percentage has climbed. I am certain that it has.

So give it a rest...we have doctors who have bought into the whole "your WiFi router can kill you" nonsense, okay?

Give discussion a rest? Why? Here's a hint, this is a discussion forum.

I didn't say "give discussion a rest".
I'm saying "give it a rest" to those who are pretending that there haven't been significant increases in the number of people who believe in pseudo-science and quack conspiracy theories.
It is not just more visibility.

Fair enough, you've made it clearer.

I thought it was spelled "idiotide?"

What if Uranus probes back...AND THIS TIME IT'S PERSONAL!!

He's already made his presence known! Just spells it a little different......

Faking a moon landing so convincingly with the technology at the time would have actually been harder than going to the moon.
