I could not think of a better forum to put this under. Seriously, WTF? Given that is is possible to become pregnant with the hymen intact, I am willing to accept that the doctor is telling the truth (assuming the story is made from whole cloth). Has anyone else heard of something like this?

Seeing as the human body does not work like that, I am wondering what the hell is going on in that town.

Was the doctor an actual licensed physician, and was that really a syringe that she was stuck with?

Yeah, they'll run with just about anything.

Really sad thing I've noticed the last few years: doctors have started actually asking me if I got my childhood vaccines. Never used to happen -- everyone did, unless they were allergic, and obviously any allergy will be noted on my chart.

I always reply the same way: "Of course I did. We didn't have people who believed polio was a conspiracy when I was a kid." That always gets a chuckle.
