Flat earth - what's the point?

I read recently that clean energy industry is bigger than the fossil fuel industry.

For all that I am not a big believer in man made GW, I am a big supporter of green energy. There is much that I support that would help reduce pollution, that many GW believers also support. So similar goals even if not for similar reasons.

I honestly don't think I have ever met a person who believed the earth was flat. Maybe I had a protected childhood?

I only find them here

Funny, last time I checked capitalism relied on free markets. Not legislation that forced the energy market to beholden to Oil, Coal, and Natural Gas Oligarchs. Look up the laws for your area on who exactly is allowed to supply you with electricity and tell me that's capitalism. If we had the same laws today that Standard Oil enjoyed when it set up it's monopolies, a resource light means of energy production would quickly dominate the energy markets without the need for government to step in and level the playing field for new technologies to compete while legally kept away from the majority of consumers in America. Pro-GW is not anti-capitalism, it's anti-oligarchy.

It's easy to call Gore a hypocrite because of his carbon footprint, but have you ever tried to live a carbon free in a society designed to operate on emitting carbon? I parked both my cars, I take public transportation, I recycle, I chose a town that is powered completely by a dam, and I source everything I buy. But here's the thing. Buying something new because it's environment friendly, isn't always the right thing to do. Take my two cars for example, I could buy a nice shiny new electric car. But I would be ignoring the fact that a **** ton of carbon was pumped out to make the parts that are in that car, to ship that car, and produce the materials that fix that car. If I compare that to the carbon my two cars emit, I wouldn't be carbon negative by simply upgrading my vehicles. Keeping them til they break, is literally more environmentally friendly than buying an electric car just because it emits less. And that's the kinds of problems Gore is faced with in his lifestyle. His home, isn't just his home, it's an office that house employees. He does not own a private jet, and uses means to offset the carbon from flying commercial, and I can go on and on. And I don't even like Gore. I think he is the wrong person to spearhead this because he is a failed politician, and the people he's trying to win over are blindly partisan against him.

You can spin however you want, but the only people with an evil agenda is those who seek to keep fossil fuels on the market as long as they can. Think about it this way, if we are wrong, all we get out of it is cleaner air and cheaper energy. If you are wrong, we all die. Better safe than sorry, I always say.
I missed the bit about the flat earth. There are other threads devoted to the subject of GW.

Yes sir, straight away sir.

I've only ever come across them here too.

Yup, zyzygy, flat earthers and USGOCT supporters, peas in a pod, true believers when zero evidence exists for either wacky notion.

Quite simply, what is the possible gain for the massive and highly expensive scam to make us think the earth is round and not flat?

It's oblate.

Of course it's round. It's hollow, and that can't be if it's flat.
The ancient Atlantis culture lives inside.

Never have been able to make any sense of this flat-earth nonsense.

Massive and explosive?? Hardly.

A flat Earth makes sense in that it would sit more securely on the back of the cosmic turtle than a globe would. However, if you believe there are elephants involved then it could go either way.

I just wonder if these people think earth is the only flat planet, or if they're all flat.

Would be weird if Venus, Mars, and Jupiter were all round and whoops there's this disc here for no reason.

Flat earth is basically simulation theory. That we live in a fake world like the matrix. Or the Trueman show. But id wager that 95% of them are just trolls. Not sure about the other......

The next big thing is Flat Universe Theory.

Its basically... That.... Eventually you run out of dough and everything becomes mostly pancake. Eventually you have to pour "most" out and eventually you have a pancake that shoots out in a mostly flat dimension.

A globe would require to be suspended in the air by the elephants blowing on it, like kids with a balloon. It's clearly a farfetched proposition when compared with the simple logic of a flat world supported directly underneath by elephants.

Any self-respecting elephant would be able to balance a globe on its trunk with no blowing necessary. With three or four elephants involved, supporting the earth without putting undue stress on any one animal would be a piece of cake and would probably allow them to arrange alternate weekends off.

But then we'd be able to see the trunks, if they physically touched the earth to hold it up.

It's not elephants, it's Leprechauns using magic powers!

To keep you down and prevent you from getting ahead in life, same as every other conspiracy.

So we can never know how much fun they are having on the other side...
