March for Science, what a joke!

China is spending a hell of a lot of resources and dollars to do frontier QM research.

This week, China launched the world’s first quantum satellite. So what exactly does this mean?
“[T]he satellite is designed to establish ultra-secure quantum communications by transmitting uncrackable keys from space to the ground,” Xinhua, China’s state news agency, wrote after the equipment was launched on a rocket from the Gobi desert. “It could also conduct experiments on the bizarre features of quantum theories, such as entanglement.”
Uncrackable keys? Bizarre features? Both true. This satellite is designed to literally teleport information, to distances 1,200 kilometers (746 miles) away.

Don't feed the attention seeking troll.

You know I would must prefer emotionally that the universe work solely on newton principles and there was no need to deal with Einstein relativity less alone QM that results in living in a strange universe indeed with such concepts as parallel universes and quantum coupling and dark matter and dark energy and so on as part of the universe.

I do find some comfort that Einstein have a hard time emotionally accepting QM himself.

In any case, the universe is not what we would wish it to be but as we find it is no matter how strange and uncomfortable we might find.

yes, so?

Of course it is not needed and just being done for the hell of it in all GPS systems.

I know it is being done, but it really isn't neccesary, but because people believe the relativity nonsense they do this.

Footnote Einstein theory of relativity is also employed in everyday engineering use such as in the GPS network calculations.

Once a science theory had gone to being bake into hardware such as the GPS system or computer chips it is both a little late and a like ridiculous to claim the theory involved is not valid.

it is not valid

One more time:

To offset these two effects, the GPS engineers reset the clock rates, slowing them down before launch by 39,000 nanoseconds a day. They then proceed to tick in orbit at the same rate as ground clocks, and the system "works." Ground observers can indeed pin-point their position to a high degree of precision. In (Einstein) theory, however, it was expected that because the orbiting clocks all move rapidly and with varying speeds relative to any ground observer (who may be anywhere on the Earth's surface), and since in Einstein's theory the relevant speed is always speed relative to the observer, it was expected that continuously varying relativistic corrections would have to be made to clock rates. This in turn would have introduced an unworkable complexity into the GPS. But these corrections were not made. Yet "the system manages to work, even though they use no relativistic corrections after launch," Van Flandern said. "They have basically blown off Einstein."

what you are saying is like doctors use to drill holes in someone heads to 'cure' them. Can't you claim the theory not to be valid then?
of course you can!!!

depens how you look at it, It isn't that absurd at all.

Any brain surgery involves the drilling of holes. And yes, sometimes the best thing that can be done is to remove a section of the skull and give the brain some swelling room until the pressure can be relieved and it can go back to normal.

You might want a different analogy.

Oh the cheap twisting of words again. I thijnk what I am going to do next.

well they have also drilled holes for all the wrong reasons. like the pseudo science of psychiatry.
yes, pseudo-science and they a part of mainstream academia.

Ah well, of you look closely enough it is all pseudo-science. You really can't take 'science' seriously today.

It's a terrible state of affairs.

Not being able to say that the theory is not valid is simply untrue.

So the "science" in computer science is there just because?

lolol

Simple, you just don't read my posting now, do you? It was invented looooooooooooooooooooong before there was any 'modern science". Just like everythink else is.

'modern science' hijacked it and claimed it was because of 'modern science'. Nope, they are lying,

Oh here we go with the tinfoil hat non-sense. Say hello to the reason why anti-intellectuals feel so righteous. If you remove actual fact-finding from the discussion, you can make up anything you want and declare it to be true! The world's first computer was made by engineers and scientists in the 1940's.

You still haven't elaborated on why science is a scam, probably because you can't.

Why am I even participating in this thread. Ugh

hmmmmm when I don't agree with science it is 'anti-intellectual???? Strange that, can you explain why?

and fact finding? Hmmmmm do your fact finding research and you will really find everything was invented, mostly by inventors, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy before there was any 'science' about the whole thing.

Even the smartphone was way way way invented before it was , allegedly, invented because of 'modern science'

so please do some reseach BEFORE making your comments. I know it is way more difficult than to parrot the official science party line, But I know you can do that. ;)

Oh and that tin-foil hat? didn't fit so it is gone now. ;)

Ok...First of all, how can something be invented before it was invented. And secondly, when precisely was the smartphone invented if you are saying that it was invented before modern science? The earliest I can find for the concept of combining telephone and computational abilities is Tesla back in 1909 which is still in the modern science period.
