A conspiracy to promote a conspiracy theory...apparently, it was a highly successful endeavor, perhaps the KGB's most successful.

The toxic brew of a domestic demagogue mixed with dezinformatsiya was a KGB dream come true: an elected U.S. official was affirming what Moscow had been saying for years about America’s corrupt political system and its military-industrial complex. In the space of a few months, Garrison legitimated the fable that the CIA was complicit in President Kennedy’s assassination and that American democracy itself was an illusion.

We should all shake our heads in amazement.

How the KGB Duped Oliver Stone

...JFK has probably “had a greater impact on public opinion than any other work of art in American history.” Indeed, the movie remains a great source of pride for Stone, if not his masterpiece. Allegedly, the film exposed a fascist-led coup that “hit the central nerve core of the establishment,” and has “held up very well over time,” the director contended recently at the Lucca Film Festival in April, 2017.

Even allowing for hyperbole, that is why a fantasy concocted by an Italian newspaper that trafficked in disinformation remains Moscow’s single most successful influence operation.

If it was the Cubans, it was the Russians.

I don't know what the success of the operation was, but Putin's people are still knee deep in this stuff.

No one but Oliver Stone and the conspiracy nuts believe Stone's JFK movie. It was nothing but a fantasy movie.

Since the assassination the CIA, the Mafia, the FBI, LBJ, the USSR, the Cubans, the MIC(keep us in Vietnam), and probably a dozen of other alphabet soup agencies have been blamed for the assassination.

But actually it probably comes down the the simplest answer, it comes down to what Lee Harvey Oswald's brother Robert said: Lee Harvery Oswald was an attention hound and Robert Oswald is 100% certain that Lee Harvey acted alone and was solely responsible for killing JFK.

I hate to rain on your parade Calamity, but the Daily Beast has done you wrong.

I suspect if the KGB is lurking around DP, they are laughing harder at this story than they are laughing about the story Hillary started about their taking the election from her.

I have loaned the book to a friend of mine so I can't remember the author's name, but the title is "Conspiracy Theory in America", and it really goes into the details of the JFK assassination, in particular LBJ's role in it. The book does include a declassified CIA memorandum regarding the harsh public reaction to the report from the Warren Commission.

Daily Beast has done you wrong dude, but it sure does contribute to the anti-Russian propaganda currently being circulated. :lamo

An interesting point of note. In a documentary, they recreated the shot using the same sort of rifle, the same angle and height, and the same position of the bodies in the car.

The results were almost a perfect match being off by an inch in the injured hand. It proved that a single bullet fired from that position could indeed hit everyone it did and hit in the same locations.

The funny part of it all was that they documented the "wounds" on the dummies and sent the paperwork to a medical examiner in another country. Someone too young to have remembered the JFK assassination. The ME looked at it and determined that it must have been multiple shots to create such wounds on that many people. When he was shown the video of the shot he was genuinely surprised since he would have sworn that such a shot and such damage would be nigh impossible. Yet there it was.

Now I know this neither proves nor disproves anything in regards to the JFK incident, but it does show that the single shooter theory is possible since they were able to recreate the shot with extremely similar results.

We now return you to our regularly scheduled conspiracy theory.

Interesting is that the one conspiracy which actually has evidence pointing in its direction: Russian propaganda info wars; is the one you reject while buying into almost every single other CT ever presented in this sub-forum.

Aye, that's the one. Like I said it neither proves nor disproves anything regarding the whole incident, but that recreation did show that the "Magic Bullet" was possible.

It was a well done documentary.

My problem with any conspiracy is usually even if a part of a conspiracy is disproven most conspiracy people still won't admit they might be wrong. I've heard about the 'magic bullet' for decades, and at times I believed there was no way 1 bullet could do all that damage. But now thanks to science and computers there is a possibility 1 bullet did do that damage.

Just like for decades we were told 1 person couldn't fire that type of rifle 3 times in the time Oswald shot, so there had to be another shooter. That's also been proven false, 1 man could easily and ACCURATELY fire that kind of rifle 3 times.

I'm not sure what happened, no one is, or probably ever will know exactly what happened. But as time has gone on more and more it looks like Oswald was the 1 and only shooter.

OK, I'll bite--what evidence is there that the Russians killed JFK?

Just about every possible notion of the US government official conspiracy theory has been proven wrong. Why don't you as an admitted conspiracy advocate of a conspiracy theory also have a problem with all those falsehoods?

What?

How did you come up with that I am a 'conspiracy advocate'?

You are either a US government official conspiracy theory conspiracy theorist or you are a 911 Truth conspiracy theorist.

Unless there is a third option I don't know about.

Where did you get that? That's not what was written in the article or claimed in the op.

You completely lost me.

Have a nice day.

I got that from your post which I linked to in post #12, your "blame the Russians" for everything that is so fashionable in these days of the Hillary loss. It's laughable, so pardon me if I misconstrued whatever the hell it is you're trying to say.

Russian info wars is a proven commodity. I said nothing about Russian assassins. Your reading skills need an upgrade.

So do your writing skills. You and the Daily Beast, it turns out, are quite the conspiracy theorists, eh?

Like I said, you buy into every CT out there while ignoring one that actually has supporting evidence behind it. I find that very telling. You only believe unsupported, made-up crap.

You and the DB advancing this nonsense demonstrate that you will believe the most outrageous of stories, as long as it's told by the CIA or other such agency.
