I agree the timing doesn't make sense. But maybe Assad did it just to test the waters with our new President?

Wonder if Ron P is part of the shadow govt? This is his contribution to state things like this so most people will say, nah, there is no shadow govt.

"“All we need is a false flag and an accident and everybody will be for teaching them a lesson,” he told TheDC’s Alex Pfeiffer. “You know the deep state is very very powerful and they have a lot of control.”
“I think there’s the shadow government, the military-industrial complex, the CIA, and all the things that can be done because they just melt away and they do exactly what the establishment says.”

So the "deep state" sends orders to the rebels - and the rebels go grab some handy chemical munitions at the local flea market and attack civilians. This is to provoke Trump into targeting some of Assad's military assets.

There are a bunch of things in this episode that don't really add up right, but neither does that. At least for me. Okay Ron, I can't stand neoconservatism, but that's still too CT for me.

Assad lacks a motive in this crime. He was on the verge of destroying the rebels anyway, and there was an upcoming peace summit. Why would he piss all that away? The Chem attack benefits Saudi Arabia and the rebels, not Assad.. By turning the U.S. on Assad. It doesn't add up.

Id rather wait for an investigation and its findings to come out before we start throwing claims around.... Seems like Ron is just shooting for some headlines.

Ron Paul hasn't been running on all cylinders for a while now. Better buy your gold from him before the IMF of the new world order globalists takes over and all the banks fail and official currency is worthless and the aliens from outer space get you and give you an anal probe to read the bar code on your colon that links to your secret file in the basement of the headquarters of the deep state government cabal that is run by the "juice".

Of course if the investigation does not support the "deep state" theory, some will just claim in is a cover up by the govt.:lamo

I'm gonna go with: "Trump losing political battle to hide his Kremlin ties. Calls Putin. Putin bombs civilians and Trump and Putin play 'good cop/bad cop' and subsequently make moves to **** over Western Civilization..."

Come on people! Wake the **** up!

He has used terror tactics since the war began. That includes using chemical weapons.

You are giving Trump far too much credit. The actual line of events goes something like this:

Assad continues to bomb and occasionally gas his own people.
He does so in an area that happens to be accessible to the media, and as a result, highly-photogenic children are caught on footage suffering from Assad's depredations.
Trump see's the images on TV.
Because he is impulsive, mercurial, and has no particular ideological center (nor is he particularly prone to thinking situations through), he orders the thing which feels right in the scenario, which is a strike on the airfield from whence the attacks came.

If Assad used chemical weapons as strategic weapons - say, similar to nukes - then this would be correct. But Assad uses chemical as a tactical and operational weapon, and so it is not. An offensive bogging down, loss of territory near an urban area, the threshold for using Chem for Assad is pretty low.

There have been plenty of chemical attacks. This one just got unusually good coverage.

Assad hasn't attacked any of his own people. He's been fighting terrorists the whole time.

Thanks :) I'd had a long morning, and needed that :D

Weren't we supposed to believe that the Great Putin took all of little boy Assad's chem toys away?

I think Assad is too intelligent to miss what a blunder using banned weapons right as you're turning a corner in the war is. Right as the Trump administration said, "we're leaving Syria alone." Then a week later, Assad conveniently uses banned weapons, Trump being a 100% reactionary, believer in anything he sees on cable TV, takes the bait.

I know you believe Trump doesn't have a crafty bone in his body, but, this still has the signature of a puppetmaster somewhere. And Trump once again bears a strong resemblance to Pinocchio.

While I'm not completely dismissing the possibility of a false flag, this NYT story may explain Assad's possible motivation....

 Why would it be a blunder? Given that it has never resulted in backlash for him - but only ever helped him achieve victory on the battle field - why would he assume that doing so again would have any different results?

The only time Assad ever deliberately took a risk with Chemical weapons was when he deliberately crossed the Red Line and dared the US to enforce it. Since then, every time he's done it he's done so safely in the knowledge that we did not really care, or, at least, we weren't willing to do anything about it.

Then he bombed someone who managed to go viral. What changed wasn't the use of WMD in Syria. What changed was the fact that it got wide, sympathetic, media coverage, highlighting innocents suffering due to Assad's abuses.

Right as the Trump administration said, "we're leaving Syria alone." Then a week later, Assad conveniently uses banned weapons, Trump being a 100% reactionary, believer in anything he sees on cable TV, takes the bait

That latter is generally true. He saw it on TV, and he reacted. When earlier attacks happened, he reacted differently. The use of Gas hasn't changed - the television coverage has.

Sure. Maybe it's the illuminati. Or the Jews. Or The 33rd Degree Jewminati Masons who secretly control Bannon, who secretly controls Trump, despite his just getting yanked off of the NSC.

Oh..... Occam's Razor is generally correct, and Trump saw some sympathetic images on Television, got upset, and reacted accordingly.

O J Simpson is running the shadow government?

I thought Trump only paid attention to Breitbart. Oh wait, that's his worshippers.
