I have a confession to make. A long time ago, I was an Alex Jones listener. This is not to say I believed everything he claimed, but I was a baby libertarian and stories of secret globalist plots fascinated me. I know now his predictions are a joke. And now with his cheerleading for Trump, he is a bigger joke than ever.

I have trouble comprehending how he maintains any audience member for long. As soon as his predictions are proven to be false (which they frequently are) all credibility is lost. And he doesn't just say "I think this is likely to happen." No, he unashamedly professes "this WILL happen and anyone who doubts me is a brainwashed tool of the elite." In reality, the tools are his loyal fans.

Yeah, he lost me at Trump, too. He also predicts Hillary will rig the election, but I dunno - what if Trump wins? What will he do then (since the only way he can possibly maintain any inkling of a semblance of legitimacy is to oppose whoever is in the White House)?

So how many AGW predictions have to fail before you put that in the same catagory?

His fans don't listen to him because they are seeking to apply rationality. They listen to him because they like the way he makes them feel. They are smarter than those around them, they know what's going on. The world being dicked up isn't a wicked problem of complexity, but a simple matter of Bad People Being In Control. The people you disagree with are all sheep because they aren't Aware like you are, and the people you dislike are evil.

You could literally fill three hundred threads with these. As far as I can tell, Alex Jones has never been right about anything.

Yeah, he lost me at Trump, too.

I mean, it really exposes him for being a huge hypocrite. For years AJ has sounded off on internet freedom, the Constitution, and reigning in the military. Trump wants less internet freedom, says there are "limits to the Constitution" (whatever that means), and wants to grow the military even further. Yeah, AJ was already kooky, but at least back in the day he was a politically consistent kook.

He also predicts Hillary will rig the election, but I dunno - what if Trump wins? What will he do then (since the only way he can possibly maintain any inkling of a semblance of legitimacy is to oppose whoever is in the White House)?

Yeah, I was wondering about that, as well. I think, secretly, people like Alex Jones, Rush Limbaugh, etc want Clinton to win. With Clinton in the White House they can continue to play the victim and 'avoid blame' for any of the country's problems.

Well, even a blind squirrel finds a nut. I remember when he supposedly predicted a major attack shortly before 9/11. Seems pretty remarkable... until you find out he is constantly making those predictions.
