The other day I had seen a documentary. The inhabitants of Las Vegas create cactus gardens in front of the house due to lack of water and remove the ornamental lawn. Do they also have a desert garden? Rattlesnakes also stray into the residential areas?

Have you ever collected peyote cacti in the desert? For mind-expanding sessions? There aren't any here.

I lived in vegas 25 years. Desert landscape lawns are common. Rattlesnakes can be seen when hiking. The big problem is scorpions in the house

Man, Vegas is a growing town

Yes, I find poisonous animals in the house very unpleasant. In Australia, it is said that it is customary to lift the seat when you go to the toilet. A dangerous spider species that likes to enter houses often hides underneath.
Fortunately there are not so many poisonous vermin in Central Europe. You only have to beware of ticks. But the danger is only moderate.
With me, I have a balcony with a porch, something resembles a cave in a rock face. I had bats in my apartment several times during the night. Because I like to leave the balcony door open at night.
A minimal danger of rabies. But a bit unpleasant, I put a fly screen in front of the balcony door. Here on the slope where I live, 150 meters above is already forest. Below is the town with the river valley. I have a nice view. But apart from that it's all nice and harmless, I like to stroll through nature. The German forest is a myth.
What happens when the scorpion stings, do you make it to the hospital?

I got bit by a scorpion in my kitchen. If you are healthy they tell you not even to bother going to the ER. About ten hours of pain and numbness and then it goes away

Play lots of slots.

Hey, Scorpions were here in the Vegas area way before man

They have the Right of way

Maybe always keep a supply of antiserum in the fridge. Stick it, shoot it, scratch your ass, eat breakfast...

The consequences of snakebites are underestimated globally, by the way. For hundreds of thousands of people every year it has serious consequences. The toxins cause necrosis, whole legs, arms turn black and dry out, and have to be amputated. People are traumatized and mutilated if they survive. Rabies is also bad, 50-60,000 deaths a year. :(
I think that kind of sh*t should be avoided thoroughly. That's why it's very cosy in the German oak forest. Few dirty animals and microbes. Only beautiful animals...

Vegas has a mega rate of poverty and drug addicts .
I see them everyday
Many are mentally ill and have zero education
This city is a ton of losers and poverty

My previous city of Portland had very nice and educated folks

I am planning on staying in Vegas until maybe 2025 then I will semi retire
I am only staying here because the weather is good and they have amazing mma gyms
My job will end in 2025 and then I will move to metro Phoenix ( which is far hotter lol)

The far west ( where I live is normal )
Most of the city is just garbage

As an unemployed person you look for a cosy little town with low rents and beautiful nature around it. Fishing on the lake, cycling on the river and walking through the woods is fun and doesn't cost money. Here in my 10.000+ inhabitants city there are no beggars in the historical pedestrian zone. There are also no homeless people. The crime rate is very low. It is a mystery to me. In Berlin or other cities thousands of people live on the streets. Here you can organize everything relatively easily. You apply for social welfare, you go to the advice centre, you get an apartment, you get furniture, you get free clothes, you can get free food, a big box a week and you still get over $450 on your hand. And because there are a lot of old people here, you can take care of some gardens and make an extra $300 a month, 10 hours of work / week.
You can collect money everywhere, buy drinks for the elderly neighbours 10 $, repair the car for your buddy 50 $. Going shopping with your mother (she always fills up the tank) all get too much pension. The parents get almost 4000 $ pension per month. They always want to get me to help something and lure with money. Mowing the lawn, cleaning the windows, getting prescriptions from the doctor and medicine from the pharmacy, running back and forth... I don't need a lot of money. It's coming out of my pocket. I just do what I have to do when I see my parents can't make it.

I prefer to ride my e-bike to the lakes nearby and get some sun or something.

Some people go to great lengths to screw up their lives. It's a mystery to me because, from my perspective, it's relatively simple to maintain a comfortable existence.

Welcome to DP!

It is a mystery to me. In Berlin or other cities thousands of people live on the streets.

Which is worth noting. Many of the homeless in Berlin come from abroad. Mostly from Eastern Europe, Poland etc. There the social net is much worse than in Germany. In addition, the governments there try to expel the homeless in order to get clean and beautiful cities. In Hungary recently a law was passed that forbids homelessness. Personally I think that's good. These homeless people from abroad have no right to German social benefits.
As for the German homeless. At least 70% have a serious alcohol problem. Normally, if you are not completely stupid or have had a lot of bad luck in your life, you do not have to live on the streets as a German. Alcoholic is a sad thing.
There are also opioid addicts, but not very many homeless people. There are many offers of help.
In Las Vegas the homeless scene will be pretty tough I guess.

By the way, I have been long-term unemployed for well over 20 years. Are there also American long-term unemployed here? I don't have any friends here yet. You could get acquainted and have a chat and stuff... :)
