Hello, I'm an Anarchist. I came here from another forum that I won't mention, however I've only seen one person that I recognize.

I enjoy building models, playing video games, watching horror movies, reading books(Currently reading Song of Ice and Fire), watching anime, reading manga, and discussing ideas.

I only just now noticed this sub-forum, so my introduction is about a day late, and a few of you have already met me, I guess.

Welcome to DP!

I'm not fond of Anarchism, but welcome aboard Raelia :peace

Welcome.

Love anime, love pc games/indie games, love reading sci-fi/fantasy, plenty of geeks around the forums :)

Anarchism often has a short half-life around these parts...seems to fade with exposure to real world forces.

What's good? My name's TheGoverness. I like anime, too. :)

Hello, good to see you here. What kinds of anime do you have a preference for? I prefer Mecha anime, though I've been enjoying Goblin Slayer and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure lately. There seems to be somewhat of a Mecha Anime drought as of late.

I probably should have mentioned that I prefer indie games by a wide margin, such as Hollow Knight, Rime Berta, Moekuri, and Ys Origin. How about you?

I consider 8000 years of anarchy to statism's inherent unsustainability and seeming 500 year cap to be real world forces, but everyone seems to ignore that before the collapse ;3

I'm kind of all opportunity when it comes to anime, really. I don't lean too strongly one way or the other. I can enjoy pretty much all of it. I will say I'm more of a casual fan of anime. I just watch a series from time to time. I'm planning on starting with watching The Promised Neverland. Probably tonight if I get the chance.

Welcome aboard!:2wave:

I don’t know, call me atyrant, but if I am being rushed to the emergency room at 3 AM with a heart attack, I think I would somehow feel a little better knowing that the doctors and surgeons there have been screened and regulated by a hospital board, which is in turn are beholden to making sure their doctors are board-certified. I would also like to make sure that the medicines they’re going to pump through my veins have been somewhat screened through some regulatory process and meet some minimal standards. Somehow I don’t think that would all happen if everything was just left up to free market forces.

If the staff were un-trained, they'd have a bad track record, therefor they would go out of business due to lack of consumers. Businesses already exist for quality assurance, and they are paid by other businesses to write reviews on their products. The only thing government does in this case is increase the cost earning a degree for that field, and increase the cost of production and distribution through said regulations, which necessarily promotes monopolies, as smaller businesses have a harder time acclimating to the increased costs.

As mentioned above, private industry already has private reviewers, and without the government's regulations pushing competitors out of the market and promoting monopolies, there would be even more competitors, which would further promote higher quality and lower cost products. That's also neglecting to mention that without patents, other businesses would be able to sell the same product for a lower price, which would further increase innovation rates and accessibility for those with lower income. Surely it must have occurred to you at some point that medicine costs are increasing; That's a result of restrictions on competition.

That's probably the best way to watch your anime, as if you limit yourself to specific genre, you could miss out on good anime.

Except Shounen, typically. I've never watched one that I would rate over 4/10.

I highly recommend Yuru Yuri, it has three seasons, and I've liked them all.

not familiar with the beliefs and motivations of anarchists, so i look forward to reading your posts
from the list of interests you posted we share the appeal of the exchange of ideas and reading interesting books

there are a few sub forums, such as the middle east forum, which have more restrictive rules than the remainder of the board; so heads up when posting in those sections

I loved Yuru Yuri. I always enjoy the slice of life anime I come across. I liked that one a lot.

Which kinds of books have you liked best, and are there any book series that you would recommend to others?

Why does the Middle East sub-forum have different rules?

I like hearing about those, but my game tastes put me more at the terraria, starbound, darkest dungeon type games. I'm listening to the theme from Undertale on a piano literally right now.
I actually am working on indie game design now...nothing catchy though, I'm not an entertainer by nature :)

Will we outrun our stupidity and achieve something better, or lose ground and then collapse back to a more primitive state? We're all wondering the same thing.

non fiction, often biographical, tends to be my sweet spot. "Fear" was the most recent of that genre i would recommend. now reading Michelle's "Becoming"
[given those examples, maybe i just like books having one-word titles?!]

Why does the Middle East sub-forum have different rules?
because that topic pertains to moderating activities, we cannot delve into it here. the ostensible reason given was to quell arguments [yea, on a debate site]
so, careful while there not to step on any virtual land mines

I own, but have yet to try Darkest Dungeon, I thought Starbound was okay. I have no interest in Undertale, though, but the concept looked interesting.

I'm not wondering that. Governments are inherently unsustainable. They exhibit rapid growth, which increases the cost of operation, which necessarily increases taxes, however due to the Law of Diminishing Returns it will never take in enough money to sustain itself. It's not a matter of whether the state will collapse or not, it's a matter of when.

I'm a libertarian Leftist, which is a philosophy you may not have run across yet. I was an ancap for a year when I was a teenager. It's an interesting idea, but a lot of people who initially like the philosophy do seem agree that it does fail to address many key issues. I'm sure sooner or later if you stay on here we'll butt-heads on these issues.

I enjoy playing video games, I enjoy watching Game of Thrones, and I enjoy a good anime.

Personally, I enjoy a mixture of retro games, indies, and AAA titles --although I haven't been playing a lot of games lately. The last new game for me) that I played from start to finish was The Beginner's Guide, and that was a year ago. I don't think I've played a new game for a while. Now that I have a stable job, I will get back into gaming though.
