Greetings, DP! I used to be an active member here, quite a while ago. Life got in the way of time to check in on here, so I stepped back. However, I have logged back on because I have missed the debates, the challenges, and the diverse group of people.

Hey Enoch... Welcome Back! What does the ribbon in your avatar promote?

It's the gray ribbon for brain cancer/brain tumor awareness. I was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor (non-cancerous), and am looking at surgery soon to remove it.

Whoa. Glad to hear it's benign and operable... has it impacted your quality of life much?

Some, yeah, but too horrible. I lost my hearing in my left ear years ago, likely from the tumor. It's a slow growing one, so I have probably had it undiagnosed for years. In the past few months, however, I have had more headaches, dizziness, loss of balance, and partial facial numbness. I only caught the tumor due to an MRI to diagnose my left-side hearing loss as a part of the process to get me a hearing aid for my right ear. I can still function pretty well, just occasionally have to go slow or take a moment to readjust to my surroundings when I get dizzy.

And thank you :)

Not a problem. :)

Sounds to me like it's putting a lot of pressure on your Vestibulocochlear nerve.... do they reckon there's a chance for you to get your left-side hearing back again after the surgery?

My ENT says it isn't likely, since I have had the hearing loss for so long. She says it likely means that the auditory nerve is dead. However, I will see what the neurosurgeon says. I see him tomorrow.

I kind of figured it'd be a long shot... still though, it'd be a nice bonus if it worked out that way.

I'm glad to hear it hasn't presented as seizure episodes, though - that's definitely a good sign for you.

I wish you the best of luck with the neurosurgeon tomorrow. My wife does a lot of work with epilepsy, so I know how nerve-wracking (honestly, no pun intended) it can be for anything having to do with the brain ....or neurosurgeons for that matter. If you ever need to reach out with any questions or support, don't hesitate to ask and I'll put you in touch with her.

Thank you. I really appreciate that. :)

Anytime... :)

Well, hopefully we'll cross paths hereabouts again soon. *L* I'm hoping we'll have lots to disagree about.
No! We won't ever disagree! How dare you?!

Okay, but seriously, I look forward to it :)

*L* i know.... I can't understand how anyone ever disagrees with me either - but somehow it's more fun when they do. Meetings of a Mutual Admiration Society are always boring anyway.

I enjoy debating people with a difference of opinion, as long as it doesn't devolve in to "I'm right because I say I am." haha

Well, the way I figure it, there's disagreement and then there's being disagreeable. One's a fine wine.... the other is just a prime whine.

Just saw this. I'm so sorry you've had so many health issues. I hope your medical issues are properly cared for, and you are feeling better soon.

And welcome back! I remember you well.

Thank you DiAnna, I really appreciate that. I remember you well, too. I know we haven't always been on the same side of issues, but I've always respected you for the stance you take on issues, even when I don't share that stance.

Welcome back. I wish I had joined when you were here before. So far I've seen no debates, challenges, nor diversity. I've only seen closed-minded people using fallacious devices to feel like they win, whom are not interested in truth. And, for the most part it's only between 2 groups of people continually throwing crap at each other.
