Hi,

My name is Phil – as my avatar indicates – I live outside the United States (Europe) and I hope that non-locals are allowed to participate in discussions.

My views:
I am pro secularisation, contra each kind of military intervention (except defence in acute situation), set a high focus on environmental protection (partly concerned about global warming) but consider myself as far on the right.

Welcome. You are actually a leftwinger in American politics.

You may consider yourself whatever makes you comfortable. Welcome to DP.

Thanks for the welcoming!

And no, I’m definitly not a leftwinger.

Why can’t a conservative be pro environmental protection and against war? For me these are genuine right issues. Conservative comes from conserve what’s good and valuable, what certainly includes the nature. Regarding war I take the stance: Make money, not war! I think excessive military spending are tearing down the country. For what purpose? To give the radical left the right arguments (“war destroys and kills”) to base their hatred against America.

And secularisation comes with my more Libertarian way of being far on the right.

In practice not so much.

Welcome to Debate Politics. You've just learned your first lesson. You will always have people trying to pigeon-hole you and force you into a specific party, despite how many times you tell them differently.

Happens to me all the time.

Again - welcome. :)

I can't say that I understand this line, I'm afraid.

My understanding of conservatism, at least from an American perspective, is that it seeks to maintain the status-quo, while liberalism seeks to enact change. Our conservatives tend to be more nationalistic and prone to tradition and pro-Christian values.

Regarding war I take the stance: Make money, not war! I think excessive military spending are tearing down the country. For what purpose?

A huge motivating factor behind war is profit. In a nation where both parties take massive donations and are at the beck and call of international corporations, one doesn't need much of an imagination to realize that companies like Boeing are making bank off of perpetual war.

Hello from California!

My views:

Egalitarian conservative (moderate right).

Non-locals? We need more viewpoints, hell's yeah. Just get in their and post :)
And if the usual nationalist assholes give you mean-spiritied **** for not being American, ignore it, they are the weak-minded and don't know any better.
