Hello, people! I am fairly new here still; this only making my second post. I am intentive on coming here more in hopes of having engaging discussion with those who have opposing views to test and forge my knowledge about the world and how it works!

Currently for my own leisure I am doing a rigorous research on economic institutions: Capitalism, and it's history; Socialism/Marxism and it's history, and what made some of the institutions succesful or failures. I am confident, that to truly understand politics, One needs to understand economics, considering the government attempts to leviate our economic woes with legislation all the time by saving the X industry.

So far I have read Carl Marx, Adam Smith, etc. (The classics)
I have read Henry Hazlit, Thomas Sowell, Politically incorrect guide to capitalism. Now I am reading a book on the history of capitalism. I have a decent grasp on the capitalism and socialism principles but the gaps need to filled with history, stats, charts, etc.

But now, I need some readings and lectures on the history of communism (obviously soviet union) and facism etc.
I am looking for books that detail legislation of these institutions implimented during history and their success and failures, stats, charts, etc. All the boring stuf, but that will help me draw my own conclusions.

Considerations will be deeply appreciated!!

I am pursuing criminal justice by the way in school, if that provides any directive information.

Welcome aboard.

Thanks!
I have read Machiavelli, The Prince, but from philisophical/ethically perspective. Could you provide advice from what perspective I should I read it from to obtain the information necessary to have a deeper understanding of economics?

Did you just direct me to language translating site? XD

Thanks!

Your premise is correct that to understand politics you need to understand politics. But that won't give you a complete understanding. It isn't as simple as politics = economics. Machiavelli will help you understand power.

The books I offered you should all be free pdf on line or available cheap. Each one is important and they are all different. It's college reading.

I understood it from the persspective of power dynamics bewteen individuals, but not institutions. I'll give it a quick scan again!
