Hey everyone, I'm new to these forums, although I have been discussing politics for quite some time. I bring a unique combination of perspectives, as someone who voted for Obama twice and Trump. And yes, I voted these guys in because I thought they were the best people for the job, and overall good candidates. People assume that I'm a conservative because I voted Trump, but I'm actually a Left of Center liberal. I agree with welfare programs, although they need reform, for instance. I'm also an atheist, and I grew up in a Catholic household. I'm an American that believes in well-defined borders and restricted immigration policies. I think that global warming is happening, but that we should approach the problem economically. I'd like to see more development in space, and more funding of NASA. I want to get the debt down, but I don't think we should be freaking out about how large it is, either. I'm a strong believer in the state, so you could call me a "statist" I guess, but that's not to confuse me with being some sort of Fascist, because I love our Democratic Republic system. I'd say Obama did a great job helping the economy recover with the stimulus package, but I also think that Trump is doing a great job building economic success on top of the older economic success of Obama. And importantly, I do believe in military intervention around the globe to protect our interests and guide the globe towards our culture, as I American culture is generally better than cultures around the world, but we can learn from the good of other cultures and implement the good into our system. I generally don't want broad tax cuts. On health care, I'm not completely tied to public or private strategies as I think both can work, but I do think creativeness and innovation are key to solving our health care problems. So hopefully that gives you an idea of my roundness on different issues, and I look forward to continuing the good discussions I've already had on here.

Welcome to DP.

Welcome! From your post, you could be described as well-rounded or well-squared depending on the existential paradigm being shared at the moment. For instance, I believe that our impact upon the future might be a primal consideration in all actions and policies because Earth rules. Perhaps you have a well conditioned Catholic guilt comples to work with, eh?

Welcome.

However, I don't know how the hell you could come to the conclusion that Trump was the right man., He was a scumbag boob while running and he hasn't changed

Take what you dislike about President Trump personally and throw it out the window. Now consider the policies he is advocating for that can help millions of Americans. Maybe you agree with them, maybe you don't, but you can see how many reasonable people would agree with much of his policies, such as ending global trade deals such as the TPP, a position that crosses the political spectrum. I hope this helps!

I eat Caesar salad, sorry.
