    Newbie to this site

    Greetings all,
I am new to this forum and happy to have found it. Politics/governance, political theory and science, “realpolitik,” international relations, legal theory/application and a bunch of other related topics are my interests.
Although I do not specifically identify with a political party or ideology (dogma), most who know me and understand why I choose to live within my society/culture as I do, would classify me libertarian (well, those who know what libertarianism is anyway). This is primarily due to the fact that I do not trust the overall competency of government(s) or authority, for the most part. That said, I am always eager to develop a comprehensive understanding of the myriad systems humans use(d) to control, manage, empower and/or oppress each other and why we do it. In other words, I would never be so close minded as to reject (for instance) the great contributions of Karl or Mao, despite me looking askance at the overall social/political objectives that these men had for humanity.
Please be “forewarned” that I am very direct and won’t add “nicey nicey” to my posts for the sake of non-offence (not that I intend to offend). If you are offended or just think I am an idiot, then I want to know why. That way we can engage in some intellectual sparring with the goal of discovering any “objective” truth that serve(s) to better our(political)selves (which I think is the objective here anyway).
    Thank you for reading.

Welcome, I'm a lefty. I support the Green Party and Progressive Democrats.

Everyone here gets a little mouthy from time to time, and especially once they get to know each other. Do not be intimidated or discouraged if people drop snarky and even hostile posts towards each other and you. You'll see most conservatives and liberals go at each other viciously on this board. It's normal. It's healthy even. Definitely an outlet for people.

Welcome... and a fair enough start. I hope to see you get a bit busy here and morph out of your Noob status. IMO, if you so choose to engage, you can find your way to a Cyber Mosh Pit. IRL, I found it helpful to always keep at least one foot firmly planted on the ground while moshing. May your Best DP Times lie ahead! Feel Some Love!

Welcome aboard. Nothing wrong with being blunt or direct. Feel free to be yourself.

Thank you. So if I call you a tree-hugging southpaw, you won't get offended? Great to know!

I notice you are a Leonard Cohen fan. So am I.

    Oh yeah.

Well, the rules here are no personal insults or namecalling.

You have to attack the argument not the person.

So, you can say, this is an idiotic post. But, not "you are an idiot."

Ha! if I have to resort to name calling, then I've already lost (I was only teasing, anyway)

My goal is to extract as much out of a productive argument/debate as possible.

Information becomes knowledge becomes understanding becomes wisdom becomes truth becomes the ultimate objective.
