Thought I'd introduce myself before making any posts.

My name is Eric (but call me Lyndon's Johnson, please) and I'll start off by saying that I'm a current student, majoring in Poli Sci with the initial goal to be a social science teacher at the high-school level and the ultimate goal being a professor of PoliSci at a university. I have about 2 years to go, which I'm psyched about. ;)

Of course, I understand conservatives may be thinking, "oh great, another left-leaning teacher/professor".

Anyways, I'd like to get to know you guys and am definitely not looking to change minds here!

Whether we agree or not, I just want to learn from you guys as much as I can and hopefully be able to use things I learn here to better myself!

Poly-Science........how about a brief synopsis of exactly what is studied in this field? Why got your interest this field?
And, of course welcome, unlike SSBob, I am apologetic. Cheers

Welcome. Sounds like a great attitude. Lots of issues get hashed out here in detail. Partisanship defies logic and reason. Do the colleges promote Howard Zinn's History of the World and Histroy of the USA, a/k/a the true history? How does PoliSci deal with militaristic economics?

I should have figured you were a Howard Zinn fan. He was a crackpot.

Welcome aboard Lyndon'sJohnson :peace

Haha, thanks for the warm welcome!

Short for Political Science w/ the core curriculum focusing on American Politics, Comparative Politics, International Relations, and Political Theory. I also plan on minoring in history and international relations. I would say what started my interest in the field, especially wanting to be an educator in this field, was my 12th grade U.S. Gov & Economics teacher. That was when I really found an interest in reading and studying government and politics. (Up until that point the only interest I showed in this field was watching loads of conspiracy theory videos on YouTube ranging from Kennedy's assassination to 9/11, but of course I was like 16 at the peak of my conspiracy theory-ness).

Anyways, hope that answered your question!

Just remember, thissite doesn't count toward publish or perish. ;)

Welcome, Lyndon's Johnson. :lamo

Unfortunately, I can't say because: 1) I have heard of Howard Zinn, but haven't read his books, and 2) I'm just starting as a transfer student at my university, so I'm not sure nor do I think they promote Howard Zinn's works.

Some how that doesn't sound right... :3oops:

But this is a good place to get a feel for what the real world thinks. It's heavy on left wingers here, so you won't get beat up too bad.

I am interested to hear what they are pouring into young minds now a days.

I can tell by your username that you have a sense of humor! That's good. No one should take themselves too seriously.

Happy posting!

Duly noted you have already donated to the DP cause, have an interesting Screen Name and Icon. Those attributes and reading just your one post in this thread, give you a Fan Club base of at least one member, namely me! Thank you for your thoughtfulness!

I've seen a couple of your posts around the forum. You're a pretty reasonable guy, and we can never have too many of those. I hope you decide to stick around.

Appreciate that! Seems to be a good amount of reasonable people--despite political affiliation or ideals--on here too which is why I see myself sticking around for a while.

Hey! Same here (the "being here to better myself" part)!

Enjoy, and best of the luck. :)
