Hello, everyone :)

Just looking to kick back and comment here and there. I post here and on other forums as a way to unwind after work and maybe kill some time on the weekend. I don't tend to get too heavy into any discussion, I know some of you expect scholarly essays with comprehensive bibliographies in each post. Long posts addressing all the minutia are not my jam. I post sound bytes with the occasional link. That's my level. I like good news and will discuss the bad news to a point. If I feel you're being a jerk and/or baiting, I just walk away. Ain't nobody got time fo dat.

A little about myself: Ohio resident, early 40s, father of 7, Army combat vet (OEF), fiscal Conservative, social Libertarian. Christian; that doesn't mean I hate gays or want the Church to rule the world so watch that you don't make a fool of yourself. I didn't vote for Trump, I voted against Hillary, I hope you see the difference. My guy Carson didn't even make the playoffs, but I knew he wouldn't win from the beginning because Carson had actual valid solutions to many problems, and you can't be a politician if you go around actually solving problems. 'Politics is perception' and once you've solved a problem you cannot be seen doing something about it anymore.

Hobbies include drinking (keep it classy, be responsible, and always have a top-shelf liquor to offer a guest), geocaching, video games, and taunting my adult children at every opportunity :D

So that's all I got. Have a good one :)

Hi, I do hope you talk about Carson at some point, because from my mount I dont see that.

WELCOME

On one point, healthcare. When you're born you should be given 1) a birth certificate, 2) a Social Security number, and 3) a Health Savings Account (HSA). All of your employment throughout your life contributes to your HSA, and others can make tax-deductible contributions to your HSA (relatives, charaties, etc). You get to choose the plan that manages your HSA. You can inherit an HSA, too; an elderly relative decides they've had a full life and choose to charge the HSA only what's necessary to keep them out of pain from cancer, for example, and give the rest of the HSA to you, their heir.

I think this is a viable long-term solution to the healthcare issue because government funds can also be directed into HSAs instead of having a single bureaucracy granting and denying permission for this or that based on statistics.

I'm not saying this is a flawless system. HSAs have their quirks, I admit that. I'm saying this places choice and control directly in the hands of the patient. I like that.

Thanks, but we like to keep it light and friendly in the Meet and Greet Zone.

The gore of ideological combat happens inside.

PLUS many other great delights.

I look forward to seeing you.

Welcome BlackBook! Thank you for your military service! You already fit right in. I picture you sipping top-shelf, counting to twenty, then going outside with your newest paint gun to use your adult children as target practice. Of course I picture you as the kind of man that equips those kids with their own paint guns. Who wants to shoot ducks in a barrel right?
In my late thirties, early 40s, I owned a Redneck Tavern in a town called Fruitville. Some of my regulars raced hobby cars.. and they liked to hunt wild hogs using dogs... one dog to find the hogs and another to fight the hogs. Bless you and yours!

Welcome. Hope it is rewarding for you.
