Complete and total nonsense. Christianity is one of the most successful invasion forces in all of history, eradicating indigenous belief, misconstruing facts as myths, and convincing people they are somehow more valuable than they really are.

It's one of the most abusive, ignorant, and grotesque institutions ever devised.

FIVE of the Ten Commandments are not a problem, as practically every religion known to history has taught them.

1) Honour your parents
2) Don't kill other humans
3) Don't have sex with another person if your partner is not told or disapproves
4) Don't take the goods of another person
5) Don't tell lies that harm another person.

The whole 'coveting' thing, as long as it is not acted upon - by taking another's possessions - ain't never going away. We will always covet what another person has, that we don't have, but as long as the desire stays inside of us, what's the big deal?

Other religions also taught moral behaviour to billions. Liberals don't despise Christianity but some of the do despise some of those who claim to be Christian while acting in non-Christian ways. The billions who call themselves Christian can't agree with each other, there are approximately 34,000 groups calling themselves Christian, so why should any non-Christian pay attention to the babbling.

It is delusional to claim that Liberals or Progressives love Hitler, Stalin and Mao but not unexpected that a person with near total ignorance of actual historical facts would make such a claim.

The Declaration of Independence, declared independence from England. In England, the King decided the official religion of England. The King formed the Church of England to be similar to the Catholic Church. However, the King added a divorce clause, so he could divorce his wife. The Catholic Church ddi not allow this. The King dumbed it down. Jefferson did not want a secular government to be in charge of religion, since this meant man will dictate to God, for man's own benefit. God was supposed to remain above man.

If Government was to decide which religion was to become nationalized, you end up with lawyers, politicians and their donors deciding the fate of God and Religion. Every bizarre left wing group would have addendum in the bible; polytheistic heathen religion.The idea was to let Religion remain organic, based on natural selection; free exercise instead of forced compliance to the whims of politics.

The best way to understand the position of Jefferson is to realize he did not come up with separation of church and state, in a vacuum. Rather our founding fathers, like Jefferson, built his ideas upon the thinking and experiences of his founding fathers. The founding fathers of Jefferson, among others, were the Pilgrims. They came to America to escape the state run religion of England, and its tendency to persecute anyone not with their program. The King used religion like a secular tool. The Pilgrim began with a socialist experiment, but found it necessary to change to free enterprise. Jefferson extrapolated from that.

I have no idea why you wrote that in response to me. I was asking the question for those opposed to separation of Church and state. But your answer is a lite odd.

Your comments on Henry VIII are not quite true: he asked the Pope for an annulment, not a divorce, and under rules the Church already allowed. The new Church of England did not include a “divorce clause,” and divorce was very difficult to get for a long time.

But even more bizarre is your claim that the Pilgrims were opposed to state-run religion. The Plymouth colony was a rreligious colony implementing Biblical law. Dissenters were punished or exiled.

And the pilgrims were in no way founding fathers for Jefferson: he was from Virginia, which had the Church of England as it’s official religion until 1786.

So in all, I can’t tell if you were trying to answer my question, agree with me or contradict me.

too bad christianity didn't enforce its rules on all the murderers, suicides, school shooters, rapists. Liberals simple lack the IQ to understand that Christianity is the basis for our morality. THey seem to think it comes from the Girl Scouts.
