I think, don't know for sure, that wellwisher is trying to tell us that faith does not always stop or impede inquiring minds. Father Lemaitre had the science education to form his hypothesis and did not allow his religious beliefs to interfere with his scientific work. It may seem strange when we read the evangelical types ranting about an inerrant bible means the world was formed in 4004 BCE but not all who have religious beliefs see the universe in the same manner as the fundies, which by the way, there are Muslims who believe in the God created everything just like certain Christians.

It is possible that’s what he meant, and I agree, but the pat I’m questioning is “Science and faith are not enemies, if they both search for truth.” which seems to suggest faith played a role in the discovery.
