Yes, either way.

Human ignorance can be interpreted from several perspectives. I have no truck with the perspectives. One destination, many paths. I realize that is not your perspective and I’m fine with that. I don’t need you to share my perspective. That’s OK.

Brian Cox has postulated that the big bang may never have happened, and that the universe may have always existed.

the point is that in the scheme of things human intelligence seems closer to that of a goldfish than God so efforts to find the truth have not gotten us far. So then what are we to if not invent religion?

I’m not clear as to how you think Lemaître used faith or religion to derive his theory.
