We got our own morons apparently.

This is a direct result of a severely disturbed upbringing and lack of quality education.

It's spreading.

You have the option to continue staying safely within your room. It's a win/win.

I guess they are not used to cowering in fear. A lot of the older generation I talked to when I was younger lived through much worse and overcame.

I remember grandfather telling me how he lost his 3 older brothers before any of them made it to 18 in the coal mines. Yet he went to work in the coal mines at 10 years old. It was that or starve to death. I remember him telling me how he would look for a safe place when they would blast and hoped that the rock above would not kill him as well. Then at 19 the rocks did come down on him and almost killed him. He woke up on top of a coal car the men had to fill before they would bring it up out of the mine with the injured. The coal was worth more than a human life. No ambulance. He was dropped off at his house and my grandmother had to find someone to take him to the hospital. That was his last day in the coal mines. But not for many other members of my family.

It's a different time but there are still those who live in fear, still looking for that safe place to hide.

They were afraid. The difference was there was a lot more to fear. Diseases like small pox and polio with absolutely nothing you could do to stop them. Then 2 world wars, the great depression, the dust bowl, influenza, starvation, not to mention that a lot of the working conditions back then were more dangerous than this pandemic. I could not imagine the fear of going down in a coal mine at 8 or 10 years old to fill the job of some other kid that just got crushed under tons of rock that they were still trying to find. That is if they were buried under coal otherwise it wouldn't be worth while for the coal barons to pay to find them. Most of the children that died in the mines never even made it to the obituaries. Unless their parents if they had parents could afford it. Most of the kids working to put food on the table.

There are viral diseases and there are viral ideas. Both can lead to deaths and suffering. The rejection of reason and science is as risky as the rejection of public health protocols and basic personal hygiene. Canada is not immune to viral ideas anymore than it is immune to viral epidemics.

Cheers and be well.

Says the crowd wearing dust masks to stop viruses. lol

Why do doctors, nurses and dentists wear masks?

It is not to protect themselves from the people they are working on, but to protect the people they are working on. Surgical masks are not air tight, they prevent the spit and water particles from spreading over large areas limiting. That lowers the chance to infect the people they are working on.

Dust, cloth etc masks worn by the general public are to protect others from you, not you from others

Because they are hanging inches from your face and it prevents their bodily fluid from getting on you and in you. They absolutely do not stop viruses. They stamp it right on the side of the boxes they come in. Unless you have a mask specifically designed for viruses you are using a chain link fence to stop mosquitoes.
The next time a stranger decides to do dental work on me I'll keep this in mind.

I think yahoo is the word... ;)

Doug Ford is quite a lesson for Trump and how Trump could have actually done well in this situation.

Doug Ford wasn't exactly well liked, despite winning, he had that boisterous past and had said a lot of dumb ****, "my jewish doctor etc."

But he made that boisterous and large personality work in this situation and bended it to the occasion.

Trump could have done the same thing, he could have brought some of that New York swagger and boisterous attitude in a rallying way against the virus, rather than downplay it, halfheartedly reverse course and still take jabs at the idea we should take it seriously.

Yeah, I think "wasn't exactly well liked" would be an understatement. But the 180 he pulled with this virus thing stands in defiance of the carved in stone nature of 2020 partisanship. It also should send a message to other dumb ass populists - there's no need to keep up the gong show, all people really want are good leaders. His handling of the virus in Ontario will get him reelected...though I would suggest that the makeup of those votes might look a little different this time around.

Right.

It is the body fluids that the masks stop. Those body fluids have live viruses in them. Breathing, talking etc expell aerosols of your body fluids and the mask helps contain the aerosols limiting the chance of infection

..no just you projecting...you do not know what education the people in the picture have...but you assume because you disagree with them you must be more educated than them..that assumption is not only illogical but uneducated.

For an allegedly educated person you in fact belittle those you disagree with..that does not show intelligence. An intelligent person would see no need to belittle anyone as they would no it's just a manifestation of their ego, a delusional component of our psyche that an intelligent person would limit by exhibiting humility. Arrogance and presumption on the other hand which you show exhibits someone who feels need to express superiority over others.

If that was your need perhaps you might learn to be more humble.

Also as some posters have said not everyone grew up in the world you assume must be. Therefore they may have concerns living under strict government controls especially when their livelihood is at stake.
