People in a rural Nova Scotia community are reeling today after a bloody 12-hour rampage by a gunman who killed at least one RCMP officer.

CBC News has confirmed the gunman is dead. Police say there are multiple victims, but have not yet said how many were either injured or killed.

"It's unimaginable what some people in my community are going through today," said Coun. Tom Taggart, who lives near the community of Portapique, N.S.

Nova Scotia RCMP said the gunman was Gabriel Wortman, 51. He led police on a chase Sunday morning along one of the province's busiest highways. The chase ended near a gas station about 35 kilometres north of Halifax in Enfield, N.S., around 11:40 a.m. local time.

This kind of thing, to happen in the Maritimes in such a place.

Shows you nowhere is safe from someone snapping and doing something so heinous.

Hope we can find out what his motive was to do such a thing.

Good, salt of the Earth folk down that way, this is gonna be an incredibly shocking, sad and devastating event for such a community on top of everything else we're facing.

More so in other places

Lot more to know what went down

Canadian Police are slow to update the public

Murders sites, people were found dead inside and out of the house

CBC News reporter just stated that he heard that 4 or 5 other sites have to be checked/locked down for investigation??

That is a wide open hole, so will wait for more info to come out
 
He drove a fake cop car. Makes you think he thought he could get a way with it.

So found out possibly more about this story on reddit.

Man was ****ing nasty, nasty, nasty.

The guy got all his gear online, it may have to do with an ex girlfriend, supposedly where it might have started, he went to her house, dragged her and new boyfriend outside and executed them after tying them to a tree, executed neighbour that came to check what was going on in front of their kids, set both houses on fire, went driving around, randomly pulling people over and executing them.

Got rammed by RCMP Heidi Stevenson who he managed to shoot in the chest, drag from her car, execute her, torch his own car, grab hers and continue until finally stopped sometime later after killing more, burning that car, getting in another car and finally taken down by police and RCMP ERT after they ID’d him.

Can’t verify every part of that story but a general gist of someone who seemed to know what they were talking about.
 
Casualties revised up, could go even higher because they haven’t investigated every community he may have gone into, there could be yet more bodies to find in Canada’s worst mass shooting as of now.

At least 18 people and the gunman who shot them died in a weekend rampage between the Nova Scotia towns of Portapique and Enfield, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Monday after the worst mass killing in Canadian history. The dead include an RCMP officer, an elementary-school teacher and a nurse.

The gunman, Gabriel Wortman, died in a gas-station shootout on Sunday after police pursued him for hours across rural Nova Scotia. Mr. Wortman, 51, had a fixation on policing and refurbished old police cruisers, like the fake RCMP vehicle he allegedly drove during the massacre.

Nova Scotia mass murder was evil and calculated
This wicked killing spree was plotted out to the most intricate detail.

“He’s been planning this for a while,” say police sources. “He had the uniform and two decommissioned police cars.”

These plans resulted in the murder of a mother of two, who was also an RCMP officer with 23 years of experience, and at least 15 more innocent souls.

But when suspected shooter Gabriel Wortman –killed after being intercepted by officers in Enfield, N.S. — knocked on doors of cars or residences in Nova Scotia’s cottage country, he looked like a Mountie. He had a uniform and squad car.

“They would have trusted him,” said a police source.

The mass shooting happened on the April 19th anniversaries of the Oklahoma bombing in 1995 that killed 168 and the fiery end of the standoff in Waco, Texas, in 1993, when 76 Branch Davidians died.

Even though the number of dead in Nova Scotia is not finalized, this has already become one of Canada’s worst-ever mass murders.

“There could be more (murders),” said a police source. “There were burned homes that have not been searched. Officers have been going into homes and finding bodies.”

The first two dead are believed to be 51-year-old Wortman’s “ex (wife or girlfriend) and her new boyfriend,” say police sources.

There was a virtual memorial yesterday for the victims...

This part, got me hard.

One of the victims was a fiddle player and they had a video of her playing a song, and these folks played with her.

Was really something.
