Duke and duchess will not receive publicly funded security once they end royal duties

Canada will not provide security for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex once they step down as senior royals next month, the Canadian federal government has confirmed.

The Royal Canadian mounted police (RCMP) have been providing protection on an intermittent basis since Harry and Meghan moved to a rented mansion on Vancouver Island in November.

Anyone who can afford a 'rented mansion' should not have to worry about the expense incurred from hiring private security.

Their major problem is going to be the papparazzi.

I don't see a problem with this. Celebrities in the US have to provide for their own security so why shouldn't the "royals" in Canada?

The U.K. Monarchy has more cash than Bloomberg. I can't see a problem with the QE2 slipping a care poackage of high-denomination Canadian currency into a secret RCAF flight from London to Vancouver in order for the Duke & Duchess to be able to 'afford incidental expenses' like roving packs of armed thugs.

Not really a follower of all the royal craziness, but isnt that what they wanted? To be free of the whole royal gig?
