COALITION of SOCIALIST PARTIES will be the best thing to happen.........

Well, I guess I should be glad you're leaving the door open for future conversations... ;) :lol:

Anyway...don't be so glum, chum, I don't think it's the end of the world. Despite how fun it is to hate Trudeau, I can't think of anything that would make me say life is worse under him than the conservatives. Yeah, there are things that irritate, things that bother, but ultimately, and honestly, I don't see why conservatives are so gloomy....or worse, want to adopt a scorched earth policy and tear the country apart, as is the case with these "wexit" assholes.

Honestly, I'm just glad it's over, and hope that cooler heads prevail. There's an opportunity for every single party to make a difference...it's one of those rare times that it worked out that way. They just have to work together. Not the worst thing in the world for either of us, is it Tos? :)

Thanks for your concern, Nate. Nope....I'm not glum. Lol. After all the scandals and errors in judgement by Trudeau - and he still won -
it must be Divine Providence! Something might be in the heavenly "plan" for Canada. Heh-heh-heh.

But it sure is disappointing to lose someone like Lisa Raitt.
I'm hoping the Conservatives will have a new leader. :)

Alberta and Saskartchewan have been suffering for years now. Trudeau has not really done much to lift a finger to help them - unlike the way he does all sorts of ways to reward and buy Quebec.

And, I don't think Albertans and Saskatchewans are assholes for fighting to survive. They're basically on their own!
If there is any asshole in all of this - it'll be that boy who sits on the throne!

I couldn't help but think of Isaiah, Jerusalem and Judah!

Isaiah 3

Judgment on Jerusalem and Judah

3
See now, the Lord,
the Lord Almighty,
is about to take from Jerusalem and Judah
both supply and support:
all supplies of food and all supplies of water,

2
the hero and the warrior,
the judge and the prophet,
the diviner and the elder,

3
the captain of fifty and the man of rank,
the counselor, skilled craftsman and clever enchanter.

4
“I will make mere youths their officials;
children will rule over them.”

5
People will oppress each other—
man against man, neighbor against neighbor.
The young will rise up against the old,
the nobody against the honored.

6
A man will seize one of his brothers
in his father’s house, and say,
“You have a cloak, you be our leader;
take charge of this heap of ruins!”

7
But in that day he will cry out,
“I have no remedy.
I have no food or clothing in my house;
do not make me the leader of the people.”

8
Jerusalem staggers,
Judah is falling;
their words and deeds are against the Lord,
defying his glorious presence.

9
The look on their faces testifies against them;
they parade their sin like Sodom;
they do not hide it.
Woe to them!
They have brought disaster upon themselves.

10
Tell the righteous it will be well with them,
for they will enjoy the fruit of their deeds.

11
Woe to the wicked!
Disaster is upon them!
They will be paid back
for what their hands have done.

12
Youths oppress my people,
women rule over them.
My people, your guides lead you astray;
they turn you from the path.

13
The Lord takes his place in court;
he rises to judge the people.

14
The Lord enters into judgment
against the elders and leaders of his people:
“It is you who have ruined my vineyard;
the plunder from the poor is in your houses.

15
What do you mean by crushing my people
and grinding the faces of the poor?”
declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty.

16
The Lord says,
“The women of Zion are haughty,
walking along with outstretched necks,
flirting with their eyes,
strutting along with swaying hips,
with ornaments jingling on their ankles.

17
Therefore the Lord will bring sores on the heads of the women of Zion;
the Lord will make their scalps bald.”

18 In that day the Lord will snatch away their finery: the bangles and headbands and crescent necklaces, 19 the earrings and bracelets and veils,
20 the headdresses and anklets and sashes, the perfume bottles and charms,
21 the signet rings and nose rings, 22 the fine robes and the capes and cloaks, the purses
23 and mirrors, and the linen garments and tiaras and shawls.

24
Instead of fragrance there will be a stench;
instead of a sash, a rope;
instead of well-dressed hair, baldness;
instead of fine clothing, sackcloth;
instead of beauty, branding.

25
Your men will fall by the sword,
your warriors in battle.

26
The gates of Zion will lament and mourn;
destitute, she will sit on the ground.

Other than you know buying a pipeline in order to help insure it is built

But is not helping economically like socialism or something?

His action spoke louder that his words!

Lol. He didn't have to buy it! We could've had it for free!

Look what that old pipeline that costs us 4 billion is doing - sitting idle - gathering more rust!

But is not helping economically like socialism or something?

What are you saying?
It's okay to pander to Quebec and bail out corrupt and flunking corporations - buying off Quebecers with funding this and funding that -
and yet you throw the term socialism around when it comes to helping Alberta? :lol:

See.....that's taking the term "socialism" out of context.

Helping a DEVASTATED province isn't socialism anymore than helping people in a disaster area! :doh

I suppose the term "fairness," is also alien now to majority of Canadians...……………. along with common sense.
The loss of common sense......that's the most scary part of this, folks.

That's funny.....

Trans Mountain currently has a capacity of 300 000 barrels per day. The plan is for the expansion to handle just under 900 000 per day

So Canada bought a functioning pipeline, with the goal of expanding capacity. Basically an income producing asset (at to high a price mind you with the expectation of further growth, then sale of said asset.

It is not a rusting piece of steel.

I live in Alberta, travel regularly to Sask, it is not a devastated province. Living standards and incomes are still among the highest in Canada, we still are considered a "have" province

Facts are your friends, learning the facts over the repeating the hype.

But I am glad to see my socialist friend you support government bail out and governments rejecting court decisions

Define devastation any way you want!
It may not affect you personally - thus, to you there is no devastation! Typical, isn't it? "If it does not affect me, then it's not true!"

Say that to people who'd lost jobs, and businesses that had closed down!

These are my facts:

The prolonged slump in the province’s oil-and-gas sector has left tens of thousands of Albertans unemployed, wreaked havoc with the province’s finances and
inflamed a sense of anger and resentment in a region that has a long history as seeing itself as ignored by the rest of the country.

From 2000 through 2014, Alberta’s economy grew by an average of 4.8 per cent a year – more than double the pace of the rest of the country. The province was responsible for 27 per cent of Canada’s economic growth in that time, despite having only about 10 per cent of the national population.

There were 166,200 Albertans out of work last month, up from 111,400 in September, 2014, when oil prices started to collapse, according to Statistics Canada. That’s still better than the peak in November, 2016, when that figure had ballooned to 225,000.

Consumer insolvencies also ramped up during the recession, and have continued climbing since it ended. In August, the number of insolvencies, including bankruptcies and proposals, was 13.4-per-cent higher than a year earlier.
What about Alberta? In federal election, the province’s economic woes fail to break through - The Globe and Mail

Consider too, the benefit for Canada's national economy, with helping Alberta!

Last month, Dr. Tombe published research that attempted to measure how much Alberta’s economic downturn has weighed down the national economy.

He concluded that if Alberta had kept pace with other provinces, the Canadian economy would be $130-billion larger and the national unemployment rate would be 0.8 percentage points lower.

Especially more so with Trudeau's full-blast spendings, that racks up more deficits -

you'd think helping Alberta get back on her feet would've been at the top of the list!!

What was Trudeau busy doing?
Bailing out Bombardier! Obstructing justice and working for SNC Lavalin, kicking out Raybould, paying off Norman (Quebec shipyard scandal),
puckering up butt-kissing Quebec!

Bullcrap. Trudeau bought a friggin pipeline to placate those whiners in Alberta. Biggest asshole move by a Prime Minister since his dear old dad flashed the finger to protesters.
Bunch of crybabies. All boasts and brags when the oil bidness is booming and all whiny sniveling when life Isn't as easy as they think they deserve.

Devastation was the 1980's and the NEP, when people had foreclosure parties in which they destroyed the homes before the banks took them over. I would say the 2008 financial crisis was worse.

It has of course effected me, not directly yet, but will when I sell my home to move into a different one. I will likely lose a good $50 000 when selling it (value from when we bought it, to the value of it when we sell it). The joy of buying houses to keep the wife happy despite your best economic judgement

Now for the unemployed, they can take the advice that Alberta conservatives gave the Maritime's many time, "move to where the jobs are". Only a socialist would think it is the role of the government to support private individuals to make up for poor business decisions. The private companies produce to much oil, oil that can not be shipped economically leading to low prices. Low enough that those private companies begged the Alberta government to restrict production of oil to lower the supply and increase prices. Big daddy government to the rescue. Those private companies spent billions building plants to extract oil, when oil prices looked good, now that they are low they want government protection. Just like the communist farmers, begging for government money when ever the weather turns bad.

A whole lot of sunny day conservatives, who turn into raging socialists when things turn cloudy. When the Kenny cuts start to hurt, they will turn against him and vote NDP next election

What was the largest deficit under Harper, what was the largest deficit under Trudeau?

Where did that 4 billion get spent? The USA! :lamo

Bunch of idiots as well. Most of the O&G workers never thought the party would end, especially the trades. They bought toys galore, and saved little. The trades were unlucky in that being contractors they got next to nothing in the layoffs, while the white collar workers downtown got up to two years of severance when laid off.

Sales of semi estate and estate homes have taken a big hit. The sale rep for a home builder in a community in the south of Calgary stated in August, they did not sell one ($600 000 to 1 million) from Sept of 2018 to May 2019

When Morneau’s deal closes in August, Canadian taxpayers will become the proprietors of a going-concern pipeline, along with a massive infrastructure task that likely won’t be completed until 2021—carrying construction costs Morneau declined to estimate today. Feeling uneasy?

Morneau offered this consolation: “We’ve had expressions of interest from multiple investors over the course of this last month.” Then when does he hope to unload Trans Mountain again? “We would not expect it to be a long-term hold,” he said cautiously. “We would expect it to be a short- or medium-term hold for the government.”
Why Trudeau decided to buy Kinder Morgan—and hopes to sell it again soon

Thus, we're stuck with it! :lol:

I worked in Fort Mac, lived in construction camps for two years. The town was full of unhappy, pissed-off people who brought their families there "just for a couple years" intending to go back home with a pocketful of cash. Six months later there's a new truck in the driveway, couple of quads maybe and a new snow machine and there's nowhere else in the country where they can service their debt.
Remember the bumper sticker slogan, "Let them freeze in the dark!"? That referred to Canadians in the Maritimes when Trudeau 1 said they shouldn't have to pay world prices for Canadian oil.

I was still in elementary school when that would have occurred. Not interested in politics of any sort back then, but I do remember the foreclosure parties and Klein's Eastern Bums and Creeps comments

Lisa Raitt was a surprise. She wasn't my favorite, but she did have a long run.

I also hope the Conservatives will have a new leader. One that will bring back the Progressive Conservative ideologies that played a huge and beneficial in role in building our country. I miss those guys. I'd vote for those guys. The current bunch of America worshipping, Trump wannabes though? Yeah, they do need a new leader. ;)

That's 4.5 billion already, with another 10 billion to finish the project. I'm not sure how you can say Canada isn't doing anything for Ab/Sask. And, in your response to why it was bought in the first place:

Why Trudeau decided to buy Kinder Morgan—and hopes to sell it again soon

Please, Tos, read it all...I'm not trying to slap you with this, just trying to understand, because I don't. I love all our citizens, regardless to where they come from, as Canadians, and there isn't a province I can think of, even those miserable so and so's in Quebec (lol), that I'd want to see neglected. I just don't see the beef here. Everyone's talking about how to keep the prairies happy, but it doesn't seem to permeate with the "#wexit" dolts. What do you think it would take to get them to simmer down?

Talk is cheap, OlNate.
Didn't Trudeau also talked about and PROMISED an electoral reform?

Tos...talk may be cheap, but the 4.5 billion already invested, and the 10 or 20 billion (sorry, I forget, it's past my bedtime) committed aren't. I'm not sure what you're saying here...

He dropped the ball with electoral reform...but the outcome would have been the same under pretty much every model proposed - it would have been a minority government, and the liberals and the ndp would run the show...albeit under much more confrontational circumstances. The conservatives were never going to get a majority government.

I dunno, Tos...sounds to me like you just want to be pissed off, and I guess that's normal after seeing the guy you hate so much get the nod. But you haven't really presented anything to support this overwhelming pessimism. Here's hoping you get over your TDS soon... T is for Trudeau, in case you missed that. Just pointing it out... ;) :lol: :2wave:

But you have to ask: what made him buy it?
It's not like as if he'd planned all along to get us in the oil-and-pipeline business!

Kinder Morgan's Trans-Mountain Pipeline Finds No Buyers As Deadline Looms
Bill Morneau had suggested that "plenty of investors" would be interested in taking over the troubled project.

Trudeau was forced to buy it - because no companies wanted to buy it!

Suddenly, a few months before the election, lo and behold:

Trans Mountain pipeline expansion gets green light to proceed

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Tuesday afternoon that the federal cabinet has approved the expansion of the existing pipeline, which the government bought for $4.5 billion last year after regulatory and political uncertainty led Kinder Morgan to abandon the project.
Trans Mountain pipeline expansion gets green light to proceed | Globalnews.ca

Lol. Now that we've bought it (and he got heavily criticized for it), suddenly the pipeline gets approved!
Heck, had they really tackled it long time ago - we could've had the economic benefit of having a pipeline operating, for free!

Which brings to mind Trudeau's attack on Scheer's stance as a pro-life:
Trudeau had explained during his campaign that Scheer (being a pro-lifer), cannot be trusted to defend women's rights when it comes to abortion. Based on Trudeau's logic - being an avowed environmentalist, we can say the same about him (Trudeau), when it comes to pipelines, oil and natural energy - and, as proof - we saw he's done stupid things about it!

Too bad, Scheer's strategists seem to be all amateurs! They didn't know how to effectively respond to Trudeau's campaign attacks!
And, Scheer didn't know any better (despite all his years in politics)!
I have to say that Trudeau's campaign has quite excellent strategists! They deserve commendation for a job well done!

What is this thread supposed to be about? I can't figure it out. How is reneging on electoral reform, crawling into bed with SNC-Lavalin and spending huge sums of public monies bailing out very rich Texan investors in the KM pipeline debacle socialism? The dauphin Trudeau is an arse, but he's not a socialist arse.

Cheers.

I mean, all the evidence in the world won't be convincing, if all you want to do is plug your ears and say "la la la la la la la la".

But it does remove you from the conversation...oh, sure, you'll continue to talk anyway, but you're putting yourself in a demographic not worth listening to. That's always a bad decision. But, if it would really kill you to look at the reality of the situation, which is that he's got the impossible job of keeping a rather divided country happy, well...you do you, I guess. But the whole binary "he's God or he's the devil" thing that zealots have going on in this country at the moment is bad for the country. Thankfully it's not as bad as it is down south...but you sure do seem to be joining those doing their best to make it that way.

I don't get it, Tos...I just don't get it. You'd think you guys would learn from the Harper years how bad trying to be like America made us look. Be honest for a change. If you're not going to believe in any of the things your government is trying to do for you, why should they bother in the first place? You sound just like a child mid-tantrum, holding their breath to get their way...not realizing that the only person you're hurting is yourself.

You don't get a lot, do you Nate?

Lol. You're the one who's plugging your ears (and putting on blinders) - and, incessantly rambling on.

You seem quite bored, thus you keep on saying silly things - trying to keep this deteriorating conversation going!!
Well....find someone else to put up with it. :lol:

Bye-bye, Nate!
