Don Trump says he was asked by Trudeau for a meeting and turned the request down. The Prime Minister's office denies that any such request was made.
Trump also said he doesn't like Canada's chief negotiator, Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland.

Trump probably believes it. I bet what is happening is in planning his itinerary Trump’s aids ask if he would like to arrange a meeting with certain heads of state and Trump translates that in his mind as those heads of state asking for the meeting.

Our brains build models of reality based on sensory inputs and filling in the gaps. Trump’s brain just takes a lot more “artistic discretion” than the average brain.
