Apparently, he allegedly groped a reporter in 2000!

“I’m sorry. If I had known you were reporting for a national paper, I never would have been so forward.”

The words above were attributed to Justin Trudeau in an August 2000 Creston Valley Advance editorial.

For what was the future prime minister “sorry”? The words sprung from what the Advance characterized as the “groping” of its reporter by Trudeau during his visit to the region’s Kokanee Summit.

To summarize, the reporter depicted in the editorial told her paper’s then-editor (Brian Bell) and then-publisher (Valerie Bourne) what transpired between her and Trudeau. In the words of Bourne: “She came to me just because she was distressed.” For his part, Bell says, he believed the incident happened and remembers being told about it at the time: “I consider (her) to be of sound character and that she would not have made this up.”
MacDougall: Trudeau’s answer to old ‘groping’ allegation puts lie to ‘feminist’ bona fides | Ottawa Citizen

Just recently, in an interview.....

Trudeau says zero tolerance on misconduct toward women applies to him as well

In CBC Radio interview, PM says recent high-profile cases aren't about compliments taken the wrong way

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says women who come forward with complaints of sexual assault and harassment must be supported and believed.

In that case...... we have to believe the victim!
Trudeau has to be held accountable. He has to respond to this!

Tosca1:

Trudeau just wasted $3.5 billion on a pipeline boon-doggle and you're resurrecting an eighteen-year-old incident for which he quickly apologised? Trudeau may be a feminist but he is also a fallible human being. Forgive him this minor transgression and, more appropriately, politically gut him for paying so much money to a Texas pipeline company for a pipeline which is worth (at best) less than half of what he paid for it. That is criminal crony capitalism in my opinion and far more serious than copping a feel of some woman's backside almost two decades ago.

Priorities are as important in character assassination as they are in governance.

Cheers.

I'm not forgetting the pipeline - that's another thing.

Personally.....I don't support this metoo movement for what it had become!
However, my gripe about this is the fact that quite a few people were recently booted out from caucuses for the same thing, or even less!

His interview isn't only hypocritical (if this allegation is true).....but it shows that there's a double standard here.

So, why is Harper being talked about lately? Why is he in the news? More likely that the PMO want to change the channel?

One thing is certain: Trudeau’s Liberals would like the media’s focus elsewhere.

The very day the story of Harper’s travels broke, five separate news outlets, including Maclean’s, published pieces about the Prime Minister’s 2000 groping incident, a serious matter on which Trudeau has yet to comment.

A wave of groping stories is certainly something that would have sent me—were I still a director of communications to a prime minister—scrambling for a channel changer.

Enter Harper, the go-to Liberal—and media—bogeyman, to get us talking about something else.

And then, with the job done, and the grope receding (only one further piece over two days), out comes designated grown-up Chrystia Freeland to do the required clean up, wishing Harper well in his endeavours.

Who's stephen harper?

So 18 years ago he... what? touched her bottom, tried to kiss her.... OMG, not the bottom or worse a boob

Honestly can we please focus on real sexual offenders and tell this woman to get lost or get some therapy if it upsets her so. By calling groping sexual assault she is minimising the suffering of women who are experiencing real abuse, being bashed around regularly in their homes, living in fear or are violently raped and/or murdered. She needs to **** off along with all the other... "he leered at me and now I feel dirty"

I agree with you....that's why I'm not buying into this metoo movement!

But, you should tell that to Justin Trudeau. he's into metoo!

Justin Trudeau Praises #MeToo and Time's Up

"As women speak up, it is our responsibility to listen, and more importantly, to believe."

This wouldn't have been quite a big deal, if not for the double standard he has regarding this.

How many MPs were removed from their caucus just by mere allegations alone?

Justin Trudeau says women who come forward with complaints of sexual assault and harassment must be supported and believed.
Well?

Looks like this issue isn't going away.

He's in politics he's just going to have to deal. As far as I'm concerned going around touching people in private places are rude, not sexual assault. If we call it sexual assault we deminish the suffering of victims of rape and sexual slavery. Also the "I didn't really want to but felt pressured bull**** needs to stop, women are indecisive but c'mon we're not talking about shopping for a dress here. You say no he doesn't stop... then you have reason to complain, you don't say no, he's not a mind reader and to be honest some men are terrible with body language. You need to say stop or no, it's not that complicated.

lol...Tos, you've made up my mind, I'll secretly start hoping Trudeau doesn't get reelected, for the sole reason that you can calm the hell down about him....lolz... This smacks of another Nannygate...but it should be investigated, I don't give Trudeau a pass, and if it turns out he did the thing, then he should be treated appropriately. But based on your feelings about #MeToo, I'm wondering if you agree? This must represent quite a mental kerfuffle for you... ;) lolz

Tosca1:

... an eighteen-year-old incident for which he quickly apologised

Did you see that apology? He said he wouldn't have done it if he knew she was a reporter. It's like saying, "I didn't think you were anyone special, so I thought I'd be able to get away with groping you". Really?

Forgive him this minor transgression

Tell you what. Give me your address, and point out the women in your family. I'll come and grope one of them and then ask you to forgive my "minor transgression". How's that work for you?

So "Pixey-Dust" grabbed a young woman 18 years ago.
Big F'ing Deal!

This #MeToo thing is now a weapon. I don't even like Li'l Justin, but this is asinine.
People need to acknowledge that there are 2 sexes and they interact in a sexual way. Especially when they are young.
In other words...if this kiddie-crap bothers any of you...get a life man.

It's the double standard that's the problem. Trudeau has taken a zero-tolerance stance over members of his own party for similar transgressions, but wants to weasel out when the finger points at him.

OK I see your point.
Question: These other transgressions...were they ancient as this is?
Another Question: How old were the other transgressors when their capital offences took place?

For me, the bottom line is this;
If a male or a female rape or otherwise touch another in a sexual manner after being asked or told to stop...that male or female should be arrested.

However...if a 20-something, spoiled rich kid grabs an ass or something to that effect, and it goes no further...that's life.
And if some upidy man or woman make legal accusations over normal sexual advances, and waste tax payers' money on legal fees for such horse****...that person needs to be charged for the total costs of said legal actions.

It's his attitude towards accusers - like an accusation is tantamount to guilt! Given his position, he should know better. What happened to presumed innocent until proven guilty?

I love the irony that now he finds himself in the shoes of an accused. Drama can't get any better than this! Lol.
He.....and his big mouth.

Well......for a lot of women, saying no to "unwanted touchings" could be hard.....if it comes from your boss. Especially if there are other people present , how can you rebuff.....and embarrass him?

Here's Trudeau, touching a pregnant woman's belly.

Via the Guelph Mercury in 2015:

This week Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau was photographed touching the pregnant belly of one of his candidates at a Montreal campaign event and it spurred some discussion about politicians and whether rubbing pregnant bellies falls in line with shaking hands and kissing babies. In the photo, Trudeau is smiling and resting his hand on Liberal candidate Christine Poirier’s eight-month pregnant stomach. When asked about the belly rub, Poirier said Trudeau didn’t ask permission before touching her tummy, but that it’s something that happens to her several times a day with strangers and that no permission was required from the party leader. She called it a “perfectly natural, normal gesture” and said she doesn’t mind having her belly touched.

Another incident? Trudeau touches pregnant woman without consent in old article

Whether the woman minded or not (after the fact).......is not the point. What else was she supposed to say to her boss? No?

He.....and his big mouth.

This is semi-true Nate.
Justin was a rich li'l grabber...who became PM and whitewashed himself into some sort of international SJW leader.
I think he's decided to go for Daddy's ultimate goal...head of the UN. But that's just me...
Either way...and after he legalizes pot, thank you very much...he's toast-ski.

Well exactly... if a boss forces a women into sex that's sexual assault, Harvey Weinstein scum level. The women Trudeau "may or may not" have groped were not employed by him. Also did it happen more than once? If it was a pattern that's far more serious than one offence.

My point is if we put rape on the same level as "he touched my butt" it's not only unfair to victims of rape but wrong for us to compare perp (rape) with perp (touched bottom) two vastly different offences.

I think touching someone inappropriately, continuously without their permission could be assault. But we should differentiate between rape and lesser offences.

Re the pregnant women issue, that's ridiculous, heaps of people touch your belly when you are pregnant, it's kinda out there lol. I didn't like it but I coped without being rude to them. Geezus when did we become so sensitive.

You don't have to be an employee. If someone has some power - if the family has some power - it can ruin you.

The pregnant woman was running as a Liberal MP.....so, he is her "boss."

Trudeau's view as the shining "knight" of feminism involves not only rape and assault.

"I've been very, very careful all my life to be thoughtful, to be respectful of people's space and people's headspace as well," he told CBC Radio's The House, in an interview airing Saturday.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/trudeau-careful-metoo-1.4511093

Headspace??? I suppose you can't lean too close to whisper.

Obviously, he hasn't been careful enough! I just heard this allegation involved butt-touching.

No, unless you're family, or her doctor........people don't just touch a pregnant woman's belly without asking permission,
ESPECIALLY if you're a male!

Who would go blatantly touch a woman's swollen belly in public, without asking permission? Is that being mindful?

I didn't like it but I coped without being rude to them. Geezus when did we become so sensitive.

It's not being "sensitive." It's calling for respect towards you. See? You didn't like it - they shouldn't impose themselves towards you like as if how you feel about it doesn't count at all! It's your own body after all, for crying out loud. Not theirs!

What you described is called, "unwanted touchings."

That's the gripes of most women (especially celebrities), who had to endure being manhandled even if they didn't like it!
They can't afford to be rude to these men! That's what the MeToo movement is supposed to be trying to change - to which I agree!

Agreed, no argument with that ^^^

The pregnant woman is full of crap. I very much doubt his touch was sexual. You telling me Trudeau has a thing for pregnant women? How many other pregnant women have come forward.

I smell a rat, how much does Trump hate Trudeau?... bet you it's a setup.

How can it be a set-up, when it was Trudeau who made the move? The lady was running as an MP for his own party, btw.

It doesn't matter whether the touch was meant to be sexual or not.

Man.....with those fashionable socks he's known for.........."Handy Dandy," could also be a good one.

As many of us more intelligent Canadians have known for years, Justin Trudeau is an arrogant idiot and apparently an asshole to boot. No wonder he's wildly popular with Liberals.

I hate people who politicise women's issues, it trivialises it from women being bashed raped and murdered to.. ooooh please don't touch me... (wrist on forehead).

This is a setup, shake the tree and see what else falls out.
