So...you can get a "religious exemption" for a firearms permit/ID in Canada, that exempts you from having your uncovered photo on said ID. Then you can buy a Canada legal gun without evening ever showing your face. You cant even do that here, WTH????

You can not get a gun in Canada without a license however. At least for handguns there is an extensive background check quick actually involves calling references.

If caught with a handgun outside of the route to or from the shooting range and your license and guns could be removed.

Did you watch the video? As you did not have time (at least to watch all of it), you might consider watching it in it's entirety before you comment. What about long guns?

Faith Goldie is not someone I have faith in, given that she got kicked off the Rebel website (the off brand Canadian version of Breitbart) for doing an interview with a neo Nazi website. I would not trust anything she says:

Rebel Media meltdown: Faith Goldy fired as politicians, contributors distance themselves | National Post

So can you disprove the Canadian law she cited in the video? Truth from any source is true.

I can find a story from a tabloid that says Elvis and Hitler are running a convince store on Mars together, I am not going to consider that tabloid a valid source of information due to their reputation. I do not think the Rebel is a good source of info and I certainly don't think Faith Golide is a valid source of information, reputations matter and Faith Golide has a bad one. The burden of proof is not on me if she has a bad reputation and she does not come off as good source of information, I do not trust her journalistic skills enough to consider this a credible story. Trying picking a source who was not kicked off a Breitbart knock off site for being a Nazi.

She clearly cites Canadian law in the video. I notice you did not dispute that.

Sounds like it's legit, and if so, it's an incredibly stupid loophole.
At the very least, subject must still provide at least two forms of other biometric identifiers that correspond with subject's name, DOB, social services ID #, residence address, background check, etc etc in lieu of a photograph and at least ONE form of biometric identifier must be human readable and verifiable when card is rendered on demand by law enforcement.

That is how I would expect it to be at minimum but on a personal level, no picture, no permit, sorry.
Religious accommodation be damned, this is a gun permit.
Same goes for driver's licenses. Sorry veiled people.

And for the record, I am a liberal but I do own firearms.

Lets hope so! *Hey Bob, can I hold your permit? Need a new Mossberg!*

I doubt it is real

In 2009 hutterites list the ability to not have their picture taken for their drivers license

Yeah, if this is all it's cracked up to be, Canadia is being just a wee bit TOO politically correct.
But still, look at the overall numbers in gun violence up there.
I think that their laws are...ehhhhhh, maybe a wee bit TOO strict but then again, they do have low gun violence numbers.
If I had my druthers, I'd go with the hole punch system.
You pass your tests, your background checks and you get to have your typical pistols, shotguns, hunting rifles, etc.
If you pass a more stringent set of background checks and training and tests, and you can demonstrate some sort of half-ass reason, you get to have bigger and better gunzes.

You f*ck up, like domestic violence, too many DUI's, making threats, menacing or a few other not so savory demonstrations of your nuttery, and the cops keep coming back more than a couple three times to your home, blammo, you get your ID or DL hole punched and you lose your gunz.
And that hole punched ID or DL tells gun shops to kick your butt out the door because you are persona non grata. You screwed up too much to deserve to have gunz.

I doubt Canada would ever go that route but WE could, and it wouldn't hurt decent law abiding people.
It would just hurt the chronic drunks, druggies, wife beaters and macho assholes who can't keep their idiot mouths shut or who can't think twice before pulling a gun on the neighbor kid.
And it would stop a few OF those neighbor kids who already unhinged.

"Don't f*ck up in here!!"

Again, she sites Canadian law, should be easy enough to disprove.

I checked the requirements for a gun license. Nowhere on the page did it list exceptions on any basis

Most of what you listed, will get gun rights revoked here, already. How many DUIs are are a felony? Maybe the first or second (no idea, but I bet the threashold is low) Domestic violence? Need not apply for a gun purchase. Known alcohol abuser or doper? Prohibited person.

Different country, different rules. For example, just forget about carrying a handgun in Canada. Ain't gonna happen, no way no how. We can't even hunt with handguns.
But, speaking as a gun owner and someone who supports Americans rights to own and carry whatever they want, I like our laws. I wouldn't change anything (except maybe hunting with handguns but that's not important enough to be an issue).

In some states, but not all, and the other items I listed aren't there yet, like Junior coming unglued when he already owns guns.
And enforcement, as has been seen, is too lax.

Criminal enforcement rarely fails to show in the system compared to being prohibited on mental grounds THAT part of the system fails far to often and needs to be vastly improved.

I was hoping to hear from a Canadian, is her citation of Canadian gun laws innacurate?

Yeah, you're right but it still needs to be aced and squared away airtight or close to it as possible.
It's doable, we did much the same thing with drunk driving...it's no longer "cool" to drive drunk and that's huge because I grew up in an era where even though it was illegal in most places, it was still a widespread problem and I saw at least two or three drunks on the road every week, and not even always at night either, sometimes in broad daylight.

One family man in my neighborhood was a real piece of work.
He looked like a DEAD RINGER for Jackie Gleason only instead of him being the belligerent ogre, he was the 100% henpecked husband, so he would take it out on everyone else instead, his sons, and anyone else in the neighborhood.
He used to beat the **** out of his sons, until the day came when they started fighting back.
So he tried threatening us motorheads instead, and got away with it a half dozen times till my best buddy told him he was going to shove a tire iron up his ass and down his throat if he didn't leave the driveway.

And he would come roaring up the street coming home from work every goddam night plastered to his gills.

The cops even followed him home right into his driveway on a few occasions but he never got nicked badly enough to where he had to stop driving or dry out and get sober, so I'm guessing he would pay the fine and just go back to business as usual...until the day came when he ran over a little girl who was trundling her way down the street on her little bike.
Except she wasn't on the street, she was on the sidewalk.

And so was he, going 40 mph.
She was killed instantly, he plowed the car into a tree and never even knew until a few minutes later.
And then they moved. I don't know what happened to him.

Hopefully a very slow and painful death in prison.

I don't know. I never heard of that but it does sound kind of Canadian. My permit was grandfathered in because when I got it all you had to do was fill in a form at the sporting goods store, like a fishing or hunting license. If I remember right, it was awhile ago. Now you have to pass a test about basic safe handling and storage and transport and laws. The religious thing, I can't say, but I'm not surprised. Doesn't seem like an issue either way. It's not a problem here. We occasionaly have gangsters shooting at each other but Canadian gangsters seem not to be able to shoot well- they seldom kill each other.
Oddly enough, the highest murder rate in Canada is a rural thing, where in the US it's urban. Once again, two different societies.
