Ontario "the good"...
Shame on the NDP, afraid of upsetting the 'law and order' leaning union base.m It won't work. The cost of producing a gram of high grade pot is $1 now, the best fine system they can come up with that would be constitutional [it's not a crime, so it's regulation a whole new ball game] would be less than a license so **** it. We've already heard from growers here that the black or rather 'grey market' demand is off the scale in Ontario.
But we may have the same problem here, while this city has 125 dispensaries operating as "medical" but is 90% recreational. The NDP has just come to power and has asked for on-line input. 2 minutes read of the poll tells you they already know what they're going to do, put it in government run liquor stores as payback to the BCGEU, the biggest union in the province who helped deliver the electoral victory.
So, the word on "the street", or behind closed dispensary doors is a deep concern about demand and having enough growing power. The market is expanding exponentially here and growers are meeting that demand, but Ontario and Alberta are shopping here. So where will Ontario and BC liquor stores get product? Especially since the established grow industry hates government and has a little more than a century worth of experience operating illegally. Anyone who thinks these guys are simply going to roll over and say "sure, here for whatever price and watch it get sold for $20 a gram is dreaming in technicolor.
Nope, easier and cheaper to stay gray market and conssider any fines a license fee and also pay back the government for the last 30 years of harassment?
Pleasant dreams on that one
