About a week ago, we had an election which provided a split legislature. Now, the Green party with three seats has thrown their support behind the New Democratic Party, who are somewhere left of reason.

The Liberals who had been in office since 2002 won the most seats, one shy of a pure majority. The Greens joining the NDP gives them 44 seats, to Liberals 43.

The last time the NDP ruled here, this most wealthy province nearly went bankrupt. It's going to be interesting....They still have to pick a speaker who doesn't vote which means no one in the NDP will be able to go to the bathroom lest the Liberals call a confidence vote.

Damn. There I was, thinking a Liberal minority with the Greens holding the balance was a pretty ideal result.
I'm not much of a fan of the Clark Liberals- I still see Socreds when I look at them, but the NDP in power? No, no, no. They can't govern, not efficiently. Their natural role is opposition- Jiminy Cricket on Pinochio's shoulder.

Should be interesting times in Beautiful British Columbia

Whatever happens hope it doesn't hinder Canada starting to pony up and pay their fair share of 2% GDP to NATO which they agreed to do years ago and have failed to do so.

Provinces do not pay for the Canadian military that is a federal responisbility

Thank you. So here is hoping the federal .......will finally meet it's responsibility.

If the Greens and NDP can get campaign reform passed I would call it a successful government. But we shall see what happens, BC may be back to the polls real soon.

Ohferchristsake.
Do you have any idea what the subject of the thread you just dumped this into is?

And here's hoping you learn to keep your pie-hole shut when you have nothing to say about the topic.

And here is hoping that CANADA and its people including you finally honor their friggen commitment. You all have been skating on ice not fulfilling your promises.
I guess you were expecting that forever the U.S. would pick up the tab. SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Per the bolded, any specific reasons for this assessment other than something they did 15+ years ago or is this partisan hackery?
Legit question.

I mean, I don't see the BC Liberals being any better at all, and ours in Ontario are a disaster in the present (nevermind the Conservatives; not touching them with a 10 foot pole) save for Wynne's very recent epiphany of good ideas/legislation most of which (in typical Liberal fashion) I can't see surviving past the next electoral cycle should she win.

It's not over yet.

If you had heard the joint news conference with the two Leaders, NDP and Green you'd be even more opposed. Talk about un-realistic, the Greens have only promised not to vote against the NDP when it's a confidence issue, all else is fair game.

So, now all Christy has to do is form the government as it her legal right, have one session and let these rookies go ape ****. And I mean ape ****,neither party knows restraint. It would take her little time to do what Harper did when the Liberals and NDP ganged up on him, went to the Governor General and said parliament is unworkable and 'poof' they are back in with a majority, at least back where they were.

I have to agree with you, they are Socreds, it's the same bunch, with fewer car dealers. I worked for them last time, a friend of mine who I deeply respect was trying to get back in the legislature. I said then their huge gain against polls saying they were toast was a double edged sword. The increased their majority, but it made them arrogant.

No.

It is based on the stupidity in and since the last election of what they oppose and what they are saying on the federal scene. I have lived under two NDP governments, in Saskatchewan it was in the middle, more Liberal and the Liberals. The other was in the 90's under five premiers in nine years where they nearly bankrupted the province and destroyed the lumber industry just in time for the US to impose sanctions.

They had a 22 point lead going in four years ago, but lost by going after the even more leftist Green vote and declared a moratorium on pipelines, which, are built by unionized workers

Well I mean specifics that make them stand out as being truly worse than the Liberals; opposition to the pipeline is a start as that goes. I'm going to be honest, I don't find pipeline moratoriums that big a deal, though I support pipeline construction as long as there are adequate assurances that they're going to be built, monitored and maintained properly (as opposed to leaking everywhere like the newly installed Dakota pipeline already has).

Isn't nearly bankrupting the province enough?

Do you want the specifics of their forestry policy. Want to see their platform where they promise to cancel every pipeline project in the province?

You have Google right?

I mean contemporary things.

I wouldn't vote for the NDP of say 20+ years ago as it relates to Ontario, but they're certainly not the NDP of today.

Don't make things easy. Clark is with the Liberal Party which supports Center Right polices.
Horgan NDP New Democratic Party is Left leaning and Weaver is Green.

Question, does Clark want policies like Tax Cuts for the wealthy, restrict access to abortion. Roll back national health?
Also bye the bye ,The Fraser Institute is or was affiliated with the Koch brothers as per a wiki article.

Anybody miss Toronto's Rob Ford? Donald Trump even looks a little like a well groomed Rob Ford. Which party put him in power ? Ha Ha Ha....I laugh now but Trump can do the US even more harm than Ford did Toronto.
