Walking to Canada

Thanks. Been working out well so far.

A couple in South Africa took in 143 refugees on their farm who were displaced from Congo and Burundi. You can do the same here with these refugees. What do you think?

Refugees walking through freezing weather to Manitoba. Most are originally from Ghana and Somalia. 22 last weekend...

22 refugees entered Manitoba near Emerson border over the weekend - Manitoba - CBC News

Hundreds over the past few months at several crossing places, some so frostbitten they'll lose fingers and toes...

Refugees brave freezing cold, walk to Canada to escape Donald Trump’s USA | Globalnews.ca

Great news , now when the hell is Rosie leaving ? :2wave:

I can see it now, a Canadian hockey team comprised entirely of Somali refugees. Y'all could make a movie about that.

Make all the racist jokes you want, but there is already a Sikh league and recently a story about a Syrian kid who, at 13 can stop pucks like an NHL'er.

I have no idea why all of you go so ****ing ape ship at what Canada does. You are allegedly 'the greatest nation on earth" buy cower at the words of a fat, over bearing moron, who can't show ONE incident of a refugee EVER committing a terrorist act....anywhere, let alone in the greatest nation on earth, the same one your president says is ****ed from the ground up. You're afraid of your own shadows. Be that way, but it's soon time you laughed at what's really laughable..

You're tearing up the entire immigration system to prevent an event that has never happened, while a half million Hispanics simply walk across a line in the sand without so much as being asked for a name....all so you can have cheap gardeners and maids.

Yeah, we are taking in more. But at least we know their names, what their backgrounds are, what contribution they may make to Canada....you guys don't care if their drug dealers, don't even want to know.

So take a good look at your own stupid and failing practices BEFORE you take ignorant cheap shots....it's always race with Americans.....it's always about 'them and us'.

I surely hope we do ice a Muslim/Sikh team, I have seen this kid stop pucks....

For the record and your idiot-moron ***** grabber.....64,000 refugees......i one year and not one, not one reported crime. Can you say the same about your Mexicans?

Have a good laugh....if and when you ever get your **** together.....even Trump supporters say its ****

I dont recall putting that whole "those who qualify" stipulation in his remarks welcoming refugees.

22 huh? Well...thats a start I guess.

Whoa...did you just attack 'Mexicans'?

On top of the approval of bill c-23, which gives more power to US border agents on Canadian soil which was in the news on the eve of Trudeau's visit to USA, , immigration/refugee system will be improved in Canada. Trudeau put out that info yesterday at the joint press conference.

I imagine that the announced improvement was a concession to Trump regarding the issue of border security. I'm willing to bet that we'll end up in-step with the USA as far as vetting and screening will be concerned. Which is good for us.

The Trump Factor will benefit Canada.

I said in another thread that as difficult as conditions are in the refugee camps, I have come to the conclusion that Muslims fleeing war zones would be better off not trying to re settle in Western Countries. The International Community needs to do more to offer help and support by way of humanitarian assistance and long term planning to those Countries that are willing to offer support such as Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, and Egypt.

Same thought process applies to any genuine refugee from other Countries.

I can't imagine anything worse than being re settled into a Country where people clearly hate your guts. The vitriolic hatred against Muslims including the attempt to dehumanize an entire group of people, by some, is truly horrifying and something a reasonable person would never want genuine refugees exposed to. They've already suffered enough.

Pouring money into foreign refugee camps is just throwing more money down a rat hole and solving nothing. Half those refugees are able bodied men that should be pickin up a rifle instead handing over their country to their enemies. As for hating Muslim, the ignorant are still waiting for Islamic leaders to condemn terrorism, but that's not likely to happen or we'd have seen it by now.

I think sometimes that the very best thing we can do, is kiss the Middle east goodbye and let 'em kill each other until there's some sort of winner, then deal with them.

I don't think you really understand the situation those men are in. Either they can fight for an oppressive dictatorship, fight for ISIS, or fight for one of many (losing) rebel groups (Al Qaeda, Al-Nursa, Free Syrian Army, etc.) and they are all fighting each other. It is not a clear cut battle of just defending your land, unless you are an Iraqi Kurd. Who would you fight for, the guy who killed your family, an extremist militant army who wants to throw your country back to the stone age, or Al-Qaeda?

Doubt it.

Immigrants to Europe have faced similar trials and tribulations to get to that oh so juicy welfare state.

Hardly. The costs of getting there is usually far greater than they're paid to return, and very few are offered residency. They just stay in camps that are mostly lawless, because anything's better than where they fled from

Man ya'll must hate refugees to come up with these conspiracies

Yes, we are. The ones that qualify will be accepted, those that don't will be returned to the US.
Wait a minute. You will actually vet them? We aren't allowed to do that in the US.

A much bigger problem is the 3,700 or so who have drown trying to make it from Hillary's Libya to Italy in 2016.

Libya to Italy and it's on Hillary? Yeesh. And why are those drowned refugees a much bigger problem?

I know that these things are very difficult for those involved, but we in US have been through it before too, when were absolutely isolated and you had to choose. The reason the Middle East is such a mess to begin with is because responsible people have just rolled over hoods because it wasn't their problem. We had the very same thing in south and central America and they all come running here, so what did they solve? War is where you make it. Where would we have run to in 1775? or 1812, or 1861? or 1917, or 1941? They have to take care of themselves and stop getting others to do it and pay for it for them.

Those were much more clear cut, people had reason for being on both sides. In Syria, you just get to pick your brand of extremism, none of which are really fighting for your beliefs nor your country. Believe it or not it is really hard to fight when you do not have anything to fight for. America was the aggressor in 1812 and without French help the revolutionary army (which had a massive problem with deserters) would have been crushed by the British regulars, and many did leave. Who would you support AL-Qaeda or ISIS?

The tone of the OP suggests that I am to feel bad about this.

Clearly I need stuff explained to me.

Well, Hillary broke the country, overthrew the government, and left a mess. These people weren't taking the risks 7 years ago.
And 3,700 is more than 22 or whatever. A lot of lives lost.
Glad to hear that Canada will vet the refugees and only take the ones they want.

People always have a reason for being on any side. What you're fighting for is your way of life in your own country. The US declaration of war was about English blockades and impressment. We followed the British into Canada to deal with them. So we defended our territory and trade and protected our citizens in that war.

Fighting in the Middle East is over territory like all wars, so the question is, who really owns the territory? and who's trying to steal it? You pick your side and you go.

You mean they the impressment that ended before the war even started? Do you forget that we burned your **** to the ground? Think about it this way, it is like asking someone what flavor of piss they would like to drink or they can leave, they choose to leave.

Like they were at Saratoga, right? Oh wait......the rebels whipped the British without any French aid at all. That's what conviced them that we would win in the first place.

The rebels were on the verge of collapse without French help, they outnumbered the British regulars 2:1 yet could not inflict major losses, at least on the scale those kind of numbers should produce. It also did not help they were being led by an incompetent general named George Washington. The general that won Saratoga and one of the rebel's best generals, Benedict Arnold, defected.

Incompetent my ass. He took on the world's premier army and not only defeated them repeatedly, he also kept the rebellion a going concern even through the defeats--- which are far harder for a rebellion to survive. The rebels proved at Saratoga they could beat the British in stand up warfare as well as in irregular warfare.

These were not professionals; they were largely militamen. They still inflicted enough casualties to win battles.

Believe it or not you have to meet certain criteria to qualify as a refugee. You can't just show up in a country and demand to be treated as a refugee.

Actually you can, but that doesnt mean you will automatically be granted status as a refugee.
