Krauthammer on Gingrich's Presidential Aspirations: "Now it's Over"

I'm boiling down basic traits here cp, Daniels IMHO lacks that charismatic charm, the ability to inspire. Obama, for all his faults HAS it, even if it's losing it's magic.

Daniels is also very short. Short people don't do well in national elections. They list him as 5' 7" (I think it's in heels...I've seen him in person before). The last time there was a president that short was William McKinley.

It's sad. But it's true.

Reminds me of liberals cheering for Ron Paul on the sidelines....

Can't speak for all liberals but the cheering for Ron Paul was sincere on my part for his sensible foreign policy position. :sun

I see no evidence that he is able to 'inspire' anyone other than solid Democrats. he seems to have lost independents and even some conservative democrats at an impressive speed.

With his Mideast speech he may also have the Jewish community.

..... the pieces i am hearing are rather the opposite of him now "having" the Jewish community, who are usually a staunch Democratic support group, but now seem rather uninspired....

Sorry I meant have lost my fault. Thanks for the correction

Not really. Social engineering is actively influencing society, using the government. Shrinking the government isn't so much laying out a plan for society as it is assuming that society can take care of itself. It's kind of a stretch to call that social engineering.

It's also a stretch to say that the founding principle of maximum liberty counts as social engineering. When you a mucking with the foundation, you are the one doing the engineering or re-engineering. There is no equivalency between beginning with the premise that no one gets free money, and then giving people free money; and then saying "Oh look, what you did in the beginning was social engineering." The Constitution wasn't ratified under the premise that people were going to vote themselves money in order to equalize financial outcomes.

please share with us the premise under which the Constitution was actually ratified
and then show us how that premise supports your assertion

:) would you accept citation of the Federalist Papers, which were written specifically to create and hold the case for the ratification of the Constitution?

Nothing would suffice, since all the framers of the Constitution were well off, and totally out of touch with the poor.

but I notice he doesn't answer....
