Teen who challenged Bachmann to Constitution showdown is running for class president

Re: Teen who challenged Bachmann to Constitution showdown is running for class presid

Funny it's beginning to look like the one uppers are trying to gain the high ground, IMO this objective will change hands countless times. The young girl scored a point against a adult, most kids do from time to time, non the less from what I see it is a shame how low we will go and say to hell with what really matters. Anyone ever wonder why nothing gets done and why the true talent out there has no wish to run for any political office, can't say that I blame them.

Re: Teen who challenged Bachmann to Constitution showdown is running for class presid

Makes one wonder: who is more stupid, the ignorant politicians, or the people who manage to keep voting them into office?

who's the more foolish. the fool, or the fool who follows him?

Re: Teen who challenged Bachmann to Constitution showdown is running for class presid

I've pretty much given up being surprised at the astonishingly poor level of spelling here at DP and from supposedly professional journalists. Just today I've noticed 'to' being used in place of 'too', and 'mute' instead of 'moot'. Gah! What's the point? I'm agasp.

So what...typos and simple mispells arent important on a public forum...maybe only to those that think to much of themselves

Re: Teen who challenged Bachmann to Constitution showdown is running for class presid

Some of us are educated. I didn't go to college, but I've been reading heavily since I was eight. Typos and spelling errors cause my brain to trip. When people botch simple words or phrases that have been around a few hundred years simply because a) they have a rough idea, but don't actually know, and/or b) spell check is not their friend, then yeah. Sometimes I'll comment.

Re: Teen who challenged Bachmann to Constitution showdown is running for class presid

When a topic thread gets hyjacked by claims of misspellings etc. (I find) it's usually a sign that they got nothing & are just trolling. Also misspellings can occur from a multiple of reasons... IE fat fingers, disabilties, passionate about topic, whatever.

Hijacked? :lamo

I agree its absolutely absurd to rail on spelling and typographical errors on a public forum and it says something about the people that belittle others because of it.

A mistake is a mistake. Repeated mistakes in a short space of time suggest something else. They don't necessarily say anything very much about someone's intelligence, but say quite a lot about how much care and thought they put into what they write. If someone can't be bothered to read back what they write before posting, that says to me they neither believe very strongly in what they are writing, nor respect very much the people they expect to read their thoughts. A post strewn with basic errors of language is much harder to understand than one written correctly.

Of course, sometimes repeated mistakes of very basic grammar and spelling does suggest a lack of education. Some people might accord that more importance than others might.

P.S. You do know the difference between 'to' and 'too', don't you?

Yes I know the difference, now ask me if it matters to me when someone uses too or to in the wrong context on a public forum.
I dont make mention of others typos or mistakes, because I make lots of them myself and if I didnt it still wouldnt be important enough to me to try and belittle them. Something tells me alot of people like to just pick and choose who they belittle over typos and spelling mistakes and people they are favorable too or is it to? get a pass.

I do. I know the difference between here and hear as well the differences among there, they're and their. But I unintentionally write the wrong ones all the time. Re-reading a passage I wrote sometimes helps, but not always. If I didn't write it, the errors stand out.
All I can figure is that at some level I am an auditory person of some sort. :shrug

Everyone does it..I know the difference between there their and they're and others and we all get our brain moving faster than our fingers at times and make errors...WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL...lol...honestly I dont get it

Oops I just made a typo and had to fix it out of fear of retaliatory abuse :)

I would only be belittling someone if I was mocking a particular person for a particular post. I've not mocked anyone, merely pointed out what repeated errors suggest to me when I read them. I'll repeat. It means:
1. That the person doesn't take much care with what they are writing. I prefer reading posts that people have clearly take care to create.
2. That the person doesn't care too much about being fully and properly understood. That's the kind of person who believes being understood fully doesn't matter much.
3. That it might indicate that someone isn't very well-educated. This isn't a value judgement, just an observation.

Poorly written posts don't make me dismiss what is being said out of hand, but I certainly appreciate those that are written with greater care and effort.

Not just in forums like this, but everyone is a critic. It is easier to criticize than be correct? (yes I am going with the hyjacking) lol

KK. I'm back now. It was not easy to get him into the wheel chair let alone getting him to stay in the wheelchair once we started heading toward the cliff.

You have to stop reading those heavy books:)

Re: Teen who challenged Bachmann to Constitution showdown is running for class presid

It's sad that the HS kid with a big mouth possesses more sense than a career politician. Makes one wonder: who is more stupid, the ignorant politicians, or the people who manage to keep voting them into office?
as put by George Carlin:

Re: Teen who challenged Bachmann to Constitution showdown is running for class presid

i bet bachman-who is clearly no Rob Portman or Rand Paul when it comes to brains would wipe the floor with you haymarket. Your speculating about Bachman is pathetic, unsupported by evidence and reeking of dem hack nonsense

I guess that makes up for you missing February 14th.

Re: Teen who challenged Bachmann to Constitution showdown is running for class presid

hmmm...that sounds familiar....lol...pontificating and not offering evidence....

Its the Politics of Pontification. And yes my friend, we are very familiar with it.
